Sickening and Disgraceful. Period. End of Story.
Re: Sickening and Disgraceful. Period. End of Story.
Are you saying that JoePa told his boss about what he heard, and then NEVER asked about the situation again???? Not even a "Hey, what's happening with Sandusky?" How does he just slough off something like this?

That's kinda the way I take it after reading everything. I mean this isn't like some minor thing you forget about. This is as bad of a crime you could ever commit. You don't just pass this up the chain of command and forget about it.

I dont know that he didnt follow up. What was Joe supposed to do, call the police? And tell them what, he heard someone was abusing someone? Without McQueary talking to the police, or the victim coming forward, what the hell evidence does Joe have?
I think that this looks like Joe told his boss and his boss shoved this under the rug. This is Curley and the administration more than it is Joe. Even if Joe did not follow up, why didn't Curley and Spanier?
Anyone who has ever worked for anyone else knows that you tell your boss what happened. You dont go to the police. You tell your boss, who tells his boss, or HR, or whatever. It is not Joe Paterno's responsibility to hire a private detective.

I agree. But, if I pass this along to my boss and I am McQueary or JP and my bosses do not contact proper athorities then I bring this to light. Any decent human being does not allow children to be sexually abused. This stinks from top to bottom. I am not saying JP is the most to blame. But he definately holds some of it. Along with anyone who saw or was told about it and did nothing.

The only thing Joe is guilty of is worrying more about his and his programs image than the sexual predator in his locker room and the victims.

But still at the same time, Joe is the superior in the football building. He is the man in charge at the football building. The way things have played out, people were trying to cover this up for JS as a favor or to preserve the football program's name. Now this all could have came out years ago, and Jerry would've went down alone, and for them to try to hide, now they are all going down.
TAE is right in a work situation you tell HR or the boss or whatever, its the company's policy to handle it further. Legally it was right, but morally very, very questionable.
I know if its me, and I am employing a friend for decades and find out something that nasty about him. I would want everything handled quietly and find out the facts first. Joe owed Sandusky discretion and some studying first, but the fact is....The way I look at it, Joe doesn't own the business of Penn State football, but he runs it. And I think he let things play out a little too hush hush.

Well said Louie. Initially, Paterno did the right thing. Legally he did the right thing. Morally, he most certainly did not. How did he sleep at night. I think this is more to this than we even know. Is it possible Sandusky knows things about the University that some people may not want to get out? A lot of questions are unanswered. Apparently, ESPN showed up at Sandusky's door today and he answered the door, they interviewed him. He wore a PSU jacket and smirked alot. Is he sending a message to all involved by having that jacket on? I have a feeling that if Sandusky is going down he is taking a lot of people with him. Im surprised he even would answer but something stinks here. Who knows.

HMM...
A trusted eye witness comes to your house and tells you.
I saw JS raping a little boy about ten years old in the shower last night.
Explain how JP owes JS anything at all at that point??

When you work with someone for 30+ years and they are a straight arrow, how would you take it if someone told you they were a child molestor? I am immediately going to say, 'There's no way so-and-so would ever do that, I know him better than anyone, no way". Joe is an old, old man who does not think clearly. You need to understand that. And you also need to understand that with that being said, this IS Curley's fault.

Re: Sickening and Disgraceful. Period. End of Story.
A great question from the Press conference going on now. "The practice at 2007 that Jerry Sandusky allegedly attended with a child. It is presumed that the head coach and the GA would have seen him at that practice with that child. Does that increase their culpability or responsibility to address that"
Answer. That is an interersting question.
