Re: penns manor vs bishop McCort
Unbelievable game!!
--Danny Ferens was scary good running the ball tonight. His ability to make guys miss is so impressive. He appeared to be injured or sick in the first half, and it caused him to not play D. It did not appear as noticeable in the second half. He's not a particularly good throwing QB, but made a couple of nice throws tonight when it counted. A great player, that had a great career. Its not often you get to see a LEGEND play, and that is what Danny Fernens is. He is a Heritage conference, Indiana County legend.
--All the talk was about the Penns Manor QB, but Zaine Tomkowski had something else to say. What a game by him?? He looked confident, and aside from the last second interception, he played flawless. 3 touchdown passes, and connecting on big plays. He is dangerous when he is playing with confidence, as Penns Manor found out.
--I know people think I am biased, which is fine. I'm not. I know that, and any work I put under the D6 Sports Network, or under Our Town. They are 1000000% objective. But I still catch some flak, oh well. I tweeted that the Penns Manor announcer was in the wrong tonight. You can't cheer in the press box. It is not your job to describe plays and talk to the crowd. Report what is happening, and maybe get excited for a score. Not every positive play by your team. Yelling "Go Danny Go" during a play is inexcusable.
--What was up with the 50/50, they announced the number and claimed they had a winner before I could check my ticket?! Seemed fishy to me.
--Officiating seemed fair to me, missed a few. McCort had a 12 man huddle, that was blatantly missed. And Penns Manor muffed a punt, and I'm pretty sure McCort recovered it. And the 6 guys that were pulling for Penns Manor behind me, were also certain McCort recovered the kick. Did not affect the outcome, as two punts were traded afterwards.

That is hilarious that this actually happened. Can't say I've ever heard a PA announcer cheer like that over the loudspeaker.Crimson's Ghost wrote:I tweeted that the Penns Manor announcer was in the wrong tonight. If you are talking about the hit on the McCort sideline where he got pushed into the kicking net, that was not a late hit. Ferens lowered the shoulder and took Tyler Rugg for two extra yards, and Rugg pushed him out of bounds rather than have himself get run over.
Also, what about the punt where Ferens appeared to have caught the snap with his knee on the turf? That was really close.
And I counted late hits that went uncalled 2 apiece. McCort may have piled on a few teams, but the Penns Manor kids came up and hit #79 and #74 in the back well after the play twice.
The referees did not determine the outcome. They missed some calls, but they were missed on both sides in my opinion.

This was a great game on both sides, not a perfectly played game, but both teams showed a lot of heart. Much respect to both programs. It was a hard fought game and McCort deserved that win. Sad to see Ferens' end his great career with a loss though
Re: penns manor vs bishop McCort
I believe he is talking about the elbow to the helmet on the interception return at the end of the game. It was on the PM side and happened right in front of me. When Danny went down a McCort player made a move like the WWE lifting his legs and coming down elbow first to his helmet. You can check the game tapes for the McCort players number.Crimson's Ghost wrote:If you are talking about the hit on the McCort sideline where he got pushed into the kicking net, that was not a late hit. Re: penns manor vs bishop McCort
I was field level on the fence on the opposite end of the field, I couldn't see the opposite sideline. Not saying it didn't happen, but not exactly easy to see across the field. Also if you recall, Right before that play happened, the clock did not start. And it gave PM extra time for the potential game winning drive.
It still came down to PM having the ball with a minute left, with a chance to win. They threw into double coverage, and Spangler made a nice play. If they run the ball, Penns Manor wins the game. I know they didn't have timeouts, but McCort couldn't buy a tackle on Ferens. He would have made it out of bounds a couple of times, and the ball would have been down inside the ten, where Danny is a better passer.

Just out of curiosity, how good was this penns manor team compared to the state semifinalist penns manor team of last year?
