I wonder how many kids tranferred into Prep? I know they have two kids going to Michigan State.

And how many kids from Burgettstown, Avella, McDonald transfer to WA over the years. This recruiting debate works both ways. Palko is a hypocrite.

Exactly, not only that, this isn't the NFL it's high school, meaning they are students first and are in football as an extracurricular. Imo they should just make it so if you transfer your Jr. or Sr. year to a private school you shouldn't be allowed playing sports at those schools. I'm sorry but nobody is going to transfer to a private school their last 2 years of HS for academic reasons.El-Moldo wrote:Transferring for athletic reasons is against the rules no matter how much you want to. Stealing a Snickers bar from Sheetz is agasint the rules too, no matter how much you want one. That's just the way it is. The problem is, no one enforces the rules on transferring.

Hey Portage, what if you go from a private to a public, for your junior or senior year, should you be allowed to play sports then? Or are you going to continue to be a complete hypocrite on this topic, much like everyone else who bashes private schools over it, and say it is okay for kids to go from private to public.

I'll field this question and respond. If you transfer either way your junior or senior year you don't play. It does not matter private to public or public to private. I would absolutely embrace this rule. I bet all the public schools would too!jack daniel wrote:Hey Portage, what if you go from a private to a public, for your junior or senior year, should you be allowed to play sports then? Thank you usatf, even though I do not think that should be a PIAA rule, I am glad to finally see someone who says it should go both ways. A lot of people I've talked to about this, especially on here, have zero issues going private to public, but if it is the other way around, they throw a fit.usatf oldguy wrote:I'll field this question and respond. I also believe transfers either way should be denied. HOWEVER, if it is through NO fault of the student that the PHYSICAL transfer occurred, then it should be allowed. If a family MOVES physically from one district to another, No penalty. If a divorce occurs and a student has to live with ONE of the parent's (who reside in different districts), NO punishment either. And finally, and this is the gray area, if a private student's parents can NO longer afford the steep tuition and other expenses needed to remain at a private school and must return to their home district, the no punishment either. These last examples fall into the "through no fault of their own" category for the student-athletes involved.

I guess Kephart coming back to Portage is permissible, but the other direction is not allowed.

I like the rules Washington has. Any player that transfers in district sits out a year. Its like college and it works

Moldy, all you did was show how much of a hypocrite you are on this topic. Students going from one public to another public, no problem, students going private to public, no problem, students going public to private though is still a no-no to you. What if a student wants to go to the private school and compete in athletics while there? Should they just be told no you're not allowed, but if you want to go to a different public school go right ahead! You're an idiot.
