Pundits All Wrong about this years NFL draft

Post by Eaglealum »

All you hear from all the NFL guys is how weak this years' draft is. I'm completely on the other side of that fence! This will be the kind of draft that multiple titles are won. No there is no Luck or RGIII or Russell Wilson, but what there is.....is an overabundance of legit all-pro type linemen. And if ya paid attention in BCS game, or any NFL game, if you can't block, you don't win, period. The Cowboys were 1-15 with a young Troy Aikmen and he got beat like a drum every week, when did they win? When Erik Williams, Larry Allen, Nate Newton, and Mark Stepnowski were put together in front of him.
Now you take just Alabama and Texas A&M, you have 5 , 1st rounders and two potential top 5 picks, and that's just two teams in college, there have been about 2 dozen others that analysts have said are potential 1st rounders, well there aren't that many picked in the 1st round, translation...there will be all-pro linemen being picked in the 3rd and 4th rounds...you say that happens alot...maybe, but how many times can you say that with certainty 4 months ahead of the draft and not in hindsight?
The teams that stock up in the trenches this year will be good for years to come.

Well said. A great line can make just about any NFL caliber running back look awesome, and they can make a good quarterback look great. The Steelers line has gotten better, but I'd still like to see them add a little more depth on the O line.

The best Steeler teams had great lines. A not so great line will keep the Packers from winning the Super Bowl this year.

The Steelers have exhausted a lot of quality picks on linemen recently. It's time for those guys to step up and play like the 1st and 2nd rounc picks they are. I'd be adding anything defense and a backup quarterback for my first 4 picks of I were them.

Backup QB would be nice. Ben misses a few games every year, they need someone who can step in and do more than just 'manage the game.'
