It was my understanding he is coming back. I read that on Pantherlair. Aaron Donald is one of the better interior linemen in the college game, still a bit small for the NFL.

Very exciting schedule for Pitt fans next season. Being Realistic, I could see Pitt going 7-5, 8-4. They still are dealing with the effect of having a coaching shuffle, they simply don't have the pieces to compete at the top, so I could see where people wouldn't expect much.

But looking through optimistic glasses,

You have to assume Savage or Voytik will be better than Sunseri.
You have to assume Shell will take the starting job head on.
Devin Street is a good receiver, and Tyler Boyd will make an impact.
JP Holtz will emerge as one of the better Tight Ends in the conference.
The Offensive Line will take a step up from this past season.

The Defense ranked 20th in the country last season, and 9 of them are returning. Aaron Donald would have to be up to be an All American Defensive Linemen. Jason Hendricks is a dang good Safety, and I like Pitt's corners K'waun Williams and Lafayette Pitts.

Duke, Ga Tech, Miami, Va Tech, UVA, and Syracuse and UNC are all very winnable. UNM,Nova, and Navy are in the same boat.

FSU and ND are tough to deal with, but the other ACC games are not out of the question.

Very thorough analysis, Ghost, especially the parts about J.P. & Aaron. As a season ticket holder & a fan who went to Cincy, Buffalo & ND last year, this is definitely a season to look forward to (and I have no problem with saying previous years have been extremely lacking). Navy is definitely on the road-trip list, as well as VT or possibly the Tobacco Rd game.

Any honest Pitt fan can see that this is not a national championship team, but an ACC championship game attending team, in their division, very possible in 2013. Let's just hope for better than 6-6.
