I applaud his decision. Any indications on position at Penn? If I were to guess it would be on D at safety. Not sure what scheme Penn actually plays.

Safety was what he was originally recruited but taking a closer look at his tapes they decide he needs the ball and should be a wide receiver. Penn has won last 3 out of 4 ivy league championshipa

I said slot reciever in previous post (last year). Good for him great education and he gets to play football doesn't get any better then that. Penn is a good school far from all of those big D1 schools everyone was talking about but that shows how hard it is to move on to those bigger D1 schools to play football.

Danny was a treat to watch play. His running skills were insane, but I was blown away by his ability to track the ball, and fill the hole on defense. Him playing defense wouldn't be a knock on his offensive ability, but testament to his defensive skill set. I'd really like him at Safety as a coach.

Wow - that sure sounds questionable if it is true. Has he ever been in the position (literally) where he has shown an ability to catch and run on a play by play basis, and then run with the ball after the catch? Having seen him play in person, they relied very heavily on his power running and he did not throw all that often. He is not going to outrun anyone, as he is at best a 4.6 - 4.7 40 time. I could see him maybe as an undersized TE or a hybrid that is built more to catch and run on short passes. Its a whole different skill set than being under center or wildcat/running back and running with the rock and running over similar sized players than receiving in spaces where defenses are lurking to put the big hit on you. In any case, he is a great athlete, but D wins championships, and I certainly hope they would give him his chance to excel where his strengths lie, regardless of this arm chair coach like me. I think at safety he could have been good enough to run on at PSU or could have been recruited by many D1's and potentially start in a few short years. I think everyone is so enamored with his O prowess from HS that they arent seeing his real advantages. He is that good on D.

There is a lot of technical things that come with being a receiver. Route running, catching, blocking, and Danny obviously could do those those things with some work, but by no means would he walk on to the field and be a polished receiver. Its not that easy.

I don't think any of us know where he has practiced during camps. I see him as a wide receiver. Watching his defensive highlights I don't think he'd be good at defense in college. He doesn't wrap up well and has never had any true pass defense coaching. Wide receiver is a very good fit for him.
