Interesting Seasons With Young Players for Johnstown

Post by CoffeeBlack »

Well McCort, Somerset and Bedford will definitely be tough but for once it's starting to looks like one of the battered District 6 teams, Johnstown, will have a deep young crop of up and commers (8th, 9th and 10th graders). The Junior High team posted a winning record last year and might prove to be an interesting next few years. Maybe, just maybe, Dee Dee Ball will show similar success as the Football and Basketball programs. Now if the weather would just cooperate :p

A coaching change at JHS wouldn't hurt.

As an ex coach in the City Colt league, I can attest Johnstown has some young talent from seeing/scouting it. One in particular would be Jeremy Updyke. 6-1 Catcher with a ton of tools. He can be a force in the middle of their lineup already.

Yes he's definitely one of them but they have at least 2 or 3 other freshman with superb "tools" and powerful bats at a young age. As they age this entire group will be making noise across the Laurel Highlands.

I don't hate you, Coach! I think you have me mistaken with someone else. For the most part, I only criticize officials.

But what's wrong with telling it like it is? Its no secret around the area that Dee Dee is getting older and doesn't do anything but sit on his bucket and yell at kids. So, as I previously stated, with a new group of kids, perhaps a coaching change would be a good thing for the Trojans. Chestnut Ridge has new blood, and I look for that program to make a comeback. Couldn't hurt for Johnstown, and several other teams in the area, to do the same either.
