But according to WPIAL* that wouldn't count either, cause its only Lehigh and part of his offer is based on academics. Its amazing you think walking on at PSU is an automatic and ho hum. Pop it out WPIAL.
i know while watching the march madness games last week that several references were made about starters who had come to play as walkons and wasnt until their junior or senior years that they got full ride, d1 colleges dont always give the scholarships to the best sometimes they go to who they think will be the best which is how its always been, wpial pounds d6 as a whole and crimson pounds the westpac, i personally love to just watch these young kids play their hearts out knowing they may only get to a d2 or d3 team but its still a great honor for any athlete to either walkon, get a partial athletic scholarship, partial athletic and academic, or purely academic and still play any collegiate sport.

You guys are totally missing my point. I love to see walkons do well and earn it through hard work. My point is that a supposed high major D1 program like PSU has walkons playing key roles. Trust me when I tell you, if Chambers keeps depending on walkons to play significant roles, well those decisions will get him fired, 101% guaranteed. That is absolutely no knock on the players, just a brutally honest reality of major college athletics.

I had originally heard that Renninger was planning to walk on at DuquesneU, has that plan changed? I saw him play several times, he was a very good HS player, definitely one of the top players in district 5/6 along with Leahey, Davis, Sekunda, Kanaskie, Lee, Madison, Walker, and Trexler.

and as i said this past week there were several starters referenced who were only given scholarships this year and who played 2 or 3 years as walkons and those are major d1 programs.
