One game forward, one game backward. Can't win anything like that.

Has anyone noticed that Justin Morneau has been batting inthe middle of the order for over a MONTH, and he has exactly ONE RBI, and that was as a pinch hitter last Sunday.

As of last night, Morneau was hitting around.275. What does that say about the Pirate offense?

Wasn't ideal the MVP candidate went 0 for the biggest series in PNC Park history.

Rest of the schedule:

Monday at Cubs (Morton vs. Samardzija)
Tuesday at Cubs (Cole vs. Rusin)
Weds at Cubs (Liriano vs. Arrieta)

Friday at Reds (Burnett vs. Latos)
Saturday at Reds (Morton? vs. Bailey)
Sunday at Reds (Cole? vs. Arroyo)

My guess is that Locke is done and Morton and Cole get bumped up with the off day Thursday. Sets up Liriano for the 1 game playoff. A sweep in Chicago would be nice!

A tough decision looms next Saturday and Sunday if the buccos can remain in the division hunt. Let's say they are a game back Sunday. Do you pitch Liriano and go for the division title with the risk of not having him the following day for the 1 game play in?

Washington can make this really interesting. If the pirates and reds can take care if business (big if) and the cards lose the series to the nats, we could hit the weekend with 3 teams all within a game or so of the division. This is shaping to be one of the closest division races in the history of baseball. Fun stuff....
