Johnstown finish with 3 wins
Johnstown finish with 3 wins
Johnstown could finish with a 3 win season to me is unreal and inexcusable. Is it time for a change?

Tough to call. Penna certainly had two nice seasons to start his tenure, but some would argue that Marabito left him setup very well. I know the LHAC is tough, but they are the biggest dog (with a huge roster) in the conference and should have more success. My guess is that Penna will get another year after this season to right the ship before any significant squawking starts to make a change.

I would agree penna has one more year to prove himself. Who they would hire I do not know. But its sad to see johnstown fail.

You would think Johnstown would win this conference or be in the running every year with the large male enrollment they have compared to CC, CH, PC, WH and Richland. The only school close to their size is Somerset. Bedford is next followed be FH.
From PIAA.org
Johnstown - Male Enrollment 348
Somerset - Male Enrollment 311 (Johnstown 11% Bigger)
Bedford - Male Enrollment 255 (Johnstown 27% Bigger)
FH - Male Enrollment 251 (Johnstown 28% Bigger)
PC - Male Enrollment 217 (Johnstown 38% Bigger)
Rich - Male Enrollment 215 (Johnstown 38% Bigger)
CC - Male Enrollment 206 (Johnstown 41% Bigger)
CH - Male Enrollment 201 (Johnstown 42% Bigger)
WH - Male Enrollment 198 (Johnstown 43% Bigger)
BM - Male Enrollment 144 (Johnstown 59% Bigger)
BC - Male Enrollment 129 (Johnstown 63% Bigger)
BG - Male Enrollment 95 (Johnstown 73% Bigger)

Re: Johnstown finish with 3 wins
When I was a youngster, the Trojans were one of the top dogs in the state. My Grandpap would take me to the games. I remember sometimes we would have to park sometimes in Cambria City and walk to the Point due to the large crowd. The Windber and Altoona games were huge. I remember watching McKeesport, Penn Hills and other Pittsburgh area teams. How the mighty have fallen. It seems to me that there is just too much politics at JHS

Johnstown certainly has talent. I expect them to break through a bit next year. Jeremy Updyke is a good youn QB,Kareem Gibson will be a 10+ offer recruit, and Terrell Jones is another sophomore back I think will move on to D1. The line play needs to improve is the biggest thing. They always have athletes, and with a QB that can get them the ball, it will pay off.

As history has shown The Penna's can only coach losing football. The Trojans are giving up 33pts a game, inexcusable.

Corky is 110% right. How he continues to get gigs is mind blowing. Has he had a winning record anywhere? And not one or two seasons, total winning percentage. Heck even the riverhawks sucked.

Just look at the 2011 team. Williams, Simon, Watson, Eisenhuth, Minter...... that team should have gone deep into the inter-districts if not playing for a state championship and they flopped. Talent wasn't the issue. I don't think Penna surrounds himself with the right staff and frankly I don't think he is a very good coach. If (name your coach here) would have had that team, they would have been unstoppable.
