Ligonier has a freshman kid who's good, #14 Smith...really talented and nice size...United also started a few nice freshman this year...also heard that Homer has a nice running back that'll be a freshman next year....

I saw the Yanoksy kid play some this year and he is going to be a monster when he gets older and fills out some. I also like a few kids from, wait for it...Ferndale. They have a pretty dynamic 8th grade class. Moore looked good a running back in some games I saw them play. As did the Kinsey kid at Quarterback, Grow and Ohler at a few positions, Barrett and Pudliner running the ball and on defense, and their line was one of the biggest that I saw play at that level this year. It seems crazy to say, but if they stick together, this could be a real tough group in the future. I know they have had some success over the years too, undefeated in Elementary league and a 5-3 record this year. I hope for Ferndale's sake that they can turn that program around

LHAC, WestPac, Heritage all have freshman playing JV. Junior high football is for 7th and 8th grade now.

That would explain why it was news to me as we don't play any schools from those leagues. We (Spring Cove) currently have separate teams for each grade and nobody plays JV until 10th grade.

I think this helps contribute to declining numbers. When I was a young lad, we had a 9th, 10th, JV and Varsity schedule. Kids stayed in the program because they always had at least one game to play in during the week. I know those days are long ago, but it sure was fun even for someone like me that had minimal ability. Sorry for the off topic response, just reflecting on the old days,

Don't forget the Freshman who started on the line this year every game.
