The term "Best Official" is an oxymoron.

While I can never be accused of any love for officials, at the end of the day I try to see it for what it is: a high school football game being officiated by a group of part-time officials who are human and make mistakes. However, I have to speak out about the officials that worked the Richland-BA game last evening. If someone knows them, please pass this on:

It is COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE to use profanity directed at a player. I don't care what they did, what they said, how your day was, if you got yelled at by the crowd/coaches/your wife/your mom whatever. If you are going to throw the f-bomb at kids, you need to NOT put yourself in a position to be around them. You are supposed to be an adult professional in a leadership role. If you are going to get so riled up if a player questions your call, then you have lost control of yourself and the game.

I was also at the Richland and B.A game last night. GO RAMS! Senior night, the Rams trying to defend an undefeated season, and lots of excited fans. I find it very hard to believe that people in the stands were able to hear anything that was going occurring on the sideline and football field and especially an official swearing at a player with a crowd that loud. Let's talk about what is COMPLETELEY UNACCEPTABLE. What is COMPLETLEY UNACCEPTABLE was the profanity coming from the fans/parents in the stands towards the officials. We had young children in those stands and the words coming out of the mouths of the fans were COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. I guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree because you also had PLAYERS being disrespectful to ADULTS who just happened to be officials (COMPLETLEY UNACCEPTABLE) from both teams. Here is an idea how about everyone let the officials ref the game and the parents/fan set good examples for their children and support your team in a more ACCEPTABLE and APPROPRIATE manner in the stands. Here is another idea if you think you know so much about the game get yourself a rule book and take the test and step on the field yourself. Until then, enjoy the game, enjoy being a part of an undefeated season, and KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT!

GO RAMS!

I don't post on here much but I always read. I have to ask...it seems odd to me that this happened and only one comment rose from it. Anyone else hear this? How do you know this occurred? I am not saying it didn't but it is hard to believe so I'd like some further details...

The best officiating crew that I have seen in action is the Rick Martin crew out of Johnstown. Good positioning, consistent calls, fair, and they communicate between one another with the kids and with the coaches.

footballfan2013 and guru1: I know the refs were using profanity towards the kids after my brother who plays for the Rams told us the refs were using profanity towards them.

Curious as to what specific profanity was used. F-bomb, cursing and did it happen the entire game or once, which is clearly one time too many.

Just curious was the unacceptable profanity from the stands directly in front of the press box?
