Chip Kelly? Do they touch him? Would he leave the Eagles?

It blows my mind that he is being mentioned, but he is. If he can do what he did at Oregon, I can't imagine what he could do with the talent in the state of Texas.

Chip Kelly would do really well at Texas, but he comes with a "show cause" still attached to him. I can't imagine Texas risking that. As much as I'd like to see his offense in Austin, that will probably force them to stay away even if Kelly would be interested in coming back to college already.

Mora at UCLA and Franklin at Vandy are two of the lesser names I'm hearing right now that could be very interested if Texas strikes out with the big guns. As far as the bigger names go, there's no been no leaks of any interest from any of them to this point, yet. My guess would be that it will be someone that's in the college profession right now. I don't have a feel for exactly who it could be at this point, so I won't even take a guess.

I truly don't believe anything ESPN will say about this.... No NFL coaches are going to texas... If i were to venture why not the Duke head coach or the Arizona State head coach... Talk about turning programs around i want future talent not a big name.

As I said previously, Graham is not an option due to his ties to Patterson from his previous job. Also, he doesn't fit into what Texas is looking for at all as far as a media friendly guy. Graham will kiss you and then stab you in the back when you turn around. Just ask Pitt fans. Cutcliffe is a name that I haven't seen anywhere and I won't see anywhere. It's going to take more than a little bit of success at Duke to get your name thrown into the mix at Texas. They may not end up with a huge name, but Cutcliffe isn't even on the radar. Gruden's name has been thrown out there, but I just can't see that happening unless it's the perfect storm. Gus Malzahn is getting a lot of love right now, too. He'd be smart to leave Auburn after this year for Texas because he'd go to a weaker conference and would have the boost of at least coaching in a National Championship to throw at recruits. Not to mention his offense fits in perfectly with the mobile quarterbacks and highly talented running backs that Texas has right now. I don't see Texas making a hire for at three more weeks.

JMO, but the rest of the college football world better hope that Texas doesn't pull Art Briles away from Baylor.

The guy has done a terrific job developing players at every stop and would own the state of Texas when it came to recruiting.

Art Briles does not get enough respect and I'd love the hire. I just don't think the big money donors at Texas would love it. They'd be reaching down to a "little brother" school to hire a coach. I think he'd be a game changer, though. Also, he coaches the type of offense that is appealing to the eye of Texas fans. He's definitely in my top 5 for potential candidates.

Looking like it might be Art Briles. That would make Deliverance happy!

The rumor was that Briles wanted to be hired without interviewing for the job and that got his name crossed off the list. Who knows if that's true or not. Charlie Strong is the hire and it's an interesting one. I'm not against the hire, but I'm not jumping up and down with excitement about it either. It's going to be very interesting to see how he handles the media and everything that has to do with the Longhorn Network since he's not exactly a media friendly guy. He is pretty much the complete opposite of Mack Brown and I think that's what Texas was looking for. We'll see how it works out.
