Lolwhat? 40 years? As of right now, Beamer at VT is the longest tenured coach, been there since 87. There are 5 coaches in FCS that have been at the same school since 2000. I don't think anyone will ever spend 40 years at a school again.

Perhaps Larry Johnson... But if he stays as an assistant then there is no need to. I don't think he's leaving.

I also was weighing him as an option. He would fit PSU style well, power running with two decent backs to carry the load and a great young quarterback, I feel like he would incorporate more play action to relieve pressure off hackenberg even more. Johnson is a great option.

OK time for me to be realistic. If PSU wants an alumni here are candidates. Golden Miami, frank spanizi from Boston college, Ron heller (offensive coordinator cfl), john hufangel cfl head coach....

I would call favorite BCs head coach

According to Harrisburg paper, there have been some signs of pause in Houston's pursuit of O'Brien. Something with his dealings with his staff and the PSU AD.

I'm not sure what that means, but that's the report.

If one more person says they need to hire someone like Joe I'll never watch PSU football again, man held the program back since the 90's. Yeah he did a lot for the school but reality is what did you do for your football program...8-4, 9-3 years when the team could've been better doesn't impress me much....sorry but let him go........coming from a PSU fan

I could not agree more crf. Everyone wants to live in the past. Joe Paterno held the program back for years. The Big 10 is not very difficult to go 9-3, yet that was looked at as successful. For a school like Penn State, it wasn't good enough. O'Brien has spent most of his time trying to clean up the mess. Relationships with coaches in Pittsburgh were ruined by Paterno. He didn't leave his house to recruit. I can't fault O'Brien for leaving. I mean for god sakes he was hired 2 years ago and still doesn't have a permanent president and athletic director. The people who want LJ or Bradley is mind boggling. These two guys have been career assistants. They never wanted to better themselves and become a head coach somewhere or they didn't do so, because they were comfortable at Penn State or not sought after. I want a coach who wants to be the best. I also think Munchak would be a huge mistake. The guy does not have a personality to be a recruiter and has never done it. James Franklin is who Penn State should hire.

At least a few people don't want to hire someone like Joe (so they say). Franco, Lubrano, PSU footballalums and the many JoeBots who still exist will be putting the full court press on soon enough to hire a brainwashed JoeBot like Golden, Bradley, Larry Johnson, or JayPa.

Some Cultists and JoeBots seem more worried about how Paterno "held the program back" and how he "ruined recruiting relationships" with WPIAL coaches than they are about Paterno's negligence and apathy which clearly enabled repeated child molestations to occur down the hallway from his office in the showers and while on his team's bowl travel party on the university dime.

Who cares about sick, sadistic crimes which could have been stopped AT LEAST TWICE if not for a football first and only culture. Just win and make $$$ baby.

PSU isn't a destination job for BOB, nor is it for anyone else wishing to better themselves.
