BCS Championship Game

Pretty surprised by the lack of interest in the BCS Championship game on this site. FSU just just closed within a point early in the 4th, but couldn't go for the 2 point conversion due to an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty (taunting the Auburn bench after the TD). What a penalty to take on the biggest stage.

I don't know about you and this certainly be due to the aging process, but I have seen more and more of this at the high school level (and lower) over the past 5 years. What happened to just going back to the huddle after a good play?

First thing I do when I make a good decision at work is to pound my chest, scream, and flash some signs. It's been uplifting for the entire work environment.

Could Mason of been called for spiking the ball after he scored the TD with a minute and change left? It wasn't a NFL spike but he spiked the ball as I saw it.
How about the missed horse collar penalty last series? I realize it did not have any bearing on the game but it was a sure penalty I thought.
Also Mason doing his Heisman pose after scoring that late TD and pointing to himself???

Terrible call. Refs are so caught up in the fluff calls, they miss more important calls. Case and point the horse collar call you mentioned, and it was blatantly missed. But heaven forbid they miss a kid celebrating a touchdown in the national championship. Shame on him...

I believe it was not considered a horse-collar tackle due to the fact that the Auburn player also had his left hand around the front of the FSU player. Any contact in the front of the player being tackled eliminates the horse-collar tackle.

I hate penalties after a TD is scored. Football drives me crazy about this. I watch football and sports for one purpose entertainment. If after a big play, a player wants to take their helmet and shoulder pads offs, run around, call their mom, pull out a sharpie, sign an autograph, and shake some Pom poms, I could frankly care less. They, in that case, are doing exactly what I am asking them to by watching, entertaining me.

I hate the analogy my father (and it appears others on this board) always make about "I don't celebrate after a good _____ at work." Ok that fine but I highly doubt your job is in the entertainment industry. You're not playing a game at work, you are probably selling a widget. Plus thousands of others aren't watching you or care about your accomplishment at work.

As long as the celebration isn't holding up the flow of the game, demeaning anyone, or putting anyone at harm, then celebrate your face off. Some players will go T.O. on every big play but I feel like most will just give a few high fives and run to the sideline. Either way if fine with me. Allow these young athletes to have a personality to goodness sake.

Funny , the official the talking heads talk to on broadcast even said it was a horse collar. Then the face mask on Winston in middle of field everyone but refs saw. Winston's 1st incomp. Pass to green over middle, he was held for 10 yds and hit a good 2 secs before ball got there and mussberger calls it tight coverage.
Did anyone else notice #73 on Auburn line with 2 arms around Edwards on almost every play in first half? It was 21-3 and Edwards 0 tackles when they finally called a hold. 31-10 FSU rest of way and Edwards ended with double digit tackles.
Big Ten crew was horrible!!!
Just watched replay on ESPN U , the holding was way worse than I originally noticed, FSU's dE's and WR were treated like pageant winners stuck in the state pen... I hope that crew is held accountable for that "effort"

I heard the same quote by the "talking head in the booth", but that's my interpretation of it. That penalty has been explained that way plenty of times. I suppose that FSU O-linemen never held during the game.
I'll admit that I had no dog in the race, but I didn't want FSU to win the BCS. FSU fans have always been obnoxious, even during the humbling years of the mid 2000's.
