Tyrone is actually 2-4 this year against the other 3 Mountain League teams in the AA playoffs. It is so tough to pick a favorite in this field, I could literally see 7 teams winning it and it wouldn't be surprising. Bald Eagle and McCort will most likely meet in the quarters and they might be the two teams playing the best right now.

McCort has lost to Altoona, Somerset, and BC in the last 10 days. Take away the BG game and it would appear they are reeling. So, I'm not sure they will give BEA any type of game.

Upon further review here are records of the teams in the past 6 games: Flying under the radar are Marion Center and West Branch who will square off on Tuesday night. Although it might be against weaker competition, they have both been on a roll lately.

(3) Bald Eagle 6-0
(8) Marion Center 6-0
(9) West Branch 6-0
(10) Mount Union 5-1
(1) Richland 4-2
(2) Tyrone 4-2
(4) Penns Valley 4-2
(5) Blairsville 4-2
(7) Central 4-2
(12) Juniata 4-2
(6) Bishop McCort 3-3
(11) Central Cambria 3-3
(13) Cambria Heights 2-4

McCort looked bad on Saturday, but losing to Altoona on he road is basically expected, and Sonerset seemingly always wins one McCort comes to town. So that's a fair point, they've cooled off.

But you don't think they can give Bald Eagle a game at all? Didn't they meet last year and McCort won big and Trexler scored like a career low 3 points with the foul trouble?

I think CC could actually beat McCort if they shoot it well.

BMHS last year, this year, far from the same team, but to your point they won the 2nd half against Fairview with Trex on the bench hurt.

Your thoughts on CC giving BMHS a game might be very real. CC has to push the pace. Presure base line to base line. If CC lets BMHS get into a half court game it will be to their demise.

I will take CC they had BM by 15-20 last game and BM came back to win. CC has won 3 in a row so I think if Ambrisco can out play Nemo CC wins by 5-8pts. Its simple it just comes down to those 2 players.

West Branch and MU are very, very talented and athletic teams and they are both playing lately like I expected they would play all season. WB is long, athletic and fast, and any explanation as to how they have lost as many games as they did is still at a loss for me to be able to explain. If they come and play at the level they are capable of, then I could see them without a lot of surprise in the AA finals. MU is very capable of beating Central and match up quite well with Central. Central is fast, but MU is faster. MU's outside shooting is their problem all year long. The games the shooting went well for them they won handily, even at West Branch late in the season. In games the outside shooting hasn't been there are they games they lose as in the first early season loss at JV. The second game against JV they ran JV off the floor, and JV is not a slow team by any measure. BTW, JV is that team that won the overall ICC crown over NB who many figured to be the cream of the crop in the whole ICC this year and by all accounts figured in the pre-season to be the 4th or 5th best team in the north this season. The ICC north this year is as good as I have seen it since it was created, and I wouldn't be surprised at all to see the ICC at least grab some first round games or more in the D6A and AA fields.

All indications are that the post season has a lot of fun and excitement coming with the exception of those games that are paired up with BC and BG. Its hard to even begin to compare normal good teams to those two programs. If I were a coach of an A school, I would strongly consider playing up to AA and have a more reasonable shot at a state tourney bid than to try and complete with those two privates. Essentially they are a lock year in and out to take two of the three state tourney bids. Good luck to all teams.

I agree with the Tyrone - Penns Valley perdiction for the finals. Blairsville lacked competition and it will catch up to them, Richland seems disinterested at times and McCort is a one man team.

I would think Tyrone's ability have another scored outside of Gripp will win the day for them when it counts the most. Central/Bald Eagle have some nice wins this year as well. I also agree that there aren't many 'gimme' games in this AA bracket. 6 - 8 good teams but not great teams. I expect very little from District 6 AA when state playoffs roll around.
