Game 17: Brewers vs Pirates (Loshe 2-1 vs Morton 0-1)

Post by DragonsDoExist »

Big news of the day is the acquisition of 1B Ike Davis from the Mets for AAA reliever Zack Thornton and a player to be named later. Pickup of Davis likely means the Ishikawa era is over. Who the PTBNL turns out to be will be interesting and could go a long way in determining the winner of this deal. CBSSports.com is reporting the PTBNL is "fairly significant".

If Ike Davis can get it turned around, it won't really matter who the PTBNL is because the Pirates will have gotten a steal. His potential is to be a .275 hitter with 30 homers a year. He's just been completely lost at the plate for a few years now. The potential is there and maybe a change of scenery will help. It's going to be interesting to see if Ike can go back to the hitter he was in the minors and early on in his major league career.

Yeah, I'm hoping the "playing for New York got overwhelmed, change of scenery" thing works. The Bucs could use some more pop.
