I played three innings in right field. And sometimes got to hit twice. Only pissed my pants a few times and my WAR was better than 0.2

I have a problem with the stat. And I posted this on the wrong thread. If you can't explain how a stat is calculated, you shouldn't use the stat. And by saying you, I don't mean bleacherbum, I mean everyone, me included.

Pedro's BA is disappointing. A better BA would make him a better player. We don't need to resort to an obscure stat to realize that.

I'm sorry the stat offends you. It is recognized stat of MLB As far as not using things unless you now how it works, that sure would eliminate a lot things in our life. Have a great day.

WAR shows a players overall value better than any one stat. I don't need to know to how to calculate it because there are plenty of sites out there that do it for me. The only reason for someone to hate the stat would be because they don't understand it. Like it or not, sabermetrics are here to stay.

And to add to that, you can't possibly calculate the stat at the HS level. There are so many different levels of competition that it just isn't possible. You clearly have no idea what goes into WAR if for some reason you think it could be calculated for a HS player.
