Pirates (24-29) at Dogers (29-26)
Francisco Liriano (0-5) vs. Josh Beckett (3-1)
The Pirates broke a 9 game losing streak at Dodger Stadium last night with a sound victory, and a good showing from the offense and the pitching. I thought it was one of their more satisfying wins all season. Cole pitched well, Pedro and Martin hit a bomb, they traded late runs and fought back, and the bullpen shut it down when they had too. All in all, great game.
Tonight Liriano needs to throw a good one, he's been off to say the least. Beckett coming off a no-hitter will be tough. The Dodger lineup is pretty terrifying, and that's what money will buy you. Yaisel Puig is having an MVP worthy campaign so far, and he's exciting to watch.
Love the setting of Dodger Stadium, probably tops my list of stadiums I would want to see.

You got your wish Crimson. Frankie was on last night. Dodger is a special place to visit. Very nice surroundings and the history of the park makes it special also.

To hold that lineup to 1 run is something. Great job by Liriano and the bullpen.

Pirates also traded Bryan Morris to Marlins for the 39th pick, a competitive balance pick.

The Pirates have recalled Casey Sadler from AAA. At the time of his promotion today, his 2.66 ERA ranked 8th in the International League.

Taking 3 out of 4 in LA is a huge step in the right direction.
You play to win the game!!!

3 out of 4 in LA and a series sweep there for the first time since 2006, trading Bryan Morris for what is essentially a late first round pick, and the starting pitching showing signs of improvement. Here's hoping the Pirates don't pinch me by laying an egg in San Diego.
This road trip, that started out as a potential disaster in NY, is looking much better.

Polanco is probably less than 2 weeks away too. The estimated cutoff for arbitration in June 10th. My guess is we him for the Cincinnati homestand on June 17th. If they can just find any type of stability with the 5th spot in the rotation, I can see the buccos having a big month in June.

I had hopes for Cumpton, but he's looked more like a minor league-er lately. Thank God for the performance out of the pen.
It ain't over until it's over.
