Re: Garrett County Community College
Deepcreek you can't compare the wpial to the Johnstown area. The great Johnstown teams with their "fab 5" always got a good wake up call when they ran into a wpial team in playoffs. McCort and Trexler are lucky they didn't get out of Johnstown because the same thing would have happened to them as the Johnstown teams. Pick any wpial team that made the playoffs for double a and I bet McCort would lose because the other team would have someone that could shut down Trexler

You have to know the landscape of wpial basketball before comparing.
GCC was the second best team in the WPIAL AA this past year. They lost twice to Seton LaSalle once in the Wpial final and once in the western final, both times by less than 3 points. So in all fairness, they were the second best team. Their best player was Brian Graytok. He's a 6"2 undersized forward going to play D3 Juniata. McCort and GCC played each other when both him and Trexler were juniors. In a head to head game, Graytok scored 33, Trexler scored 32. So that's where Nemo is against the best Pittsburgh area players and teams.

Wpial comparison. Miles Williamson from Chartiers-Houstan is equal to Nemo Trexler. I think that is fair to both of them.
Re: Garrett County Community College
Reading all this tells me when I have kids push them away from basketball. How difficult is it to make it to the next level in basketball

Miles Williamson is one of few people that can out jump Trexler. And crimson if McCort would have played seton la salle or gcc Trexler would have been exposed when he went against someone as athletic as him. And wasn't McCort supposed to play gcc?

Re: Garrett County Community College
The game got cancelled for obvious reasons, McCort replaced that game with New Hope Academy Charter. NHC is a very good class A charter school from York, PA. Trexler had 26.
As I pointed out in my previous post, Trexler scored 32 on GCC in his junior season.
In fact looking at his non conference games through his career
Senior
Altoona 30
New Hope 26
Fairview 8* injured
Bishop Walsh 7
Junior
27 Hollidaysburg
24 Erie McDowell
21 Bishop Walsh
14 Altoona
32 GCC
24 Burrell
20 West Middlesex
Sophomore
Allderdice 7
Bishop Canevin 22
Ridgway 15
Imani Chritian Academy 23
Quaker Valley 15
So either injury or foul trouble slowed him down against AAAA teams or non-district competition as far as I can see, otherwise he put up very good numbers. I don't buy the being exposed theory against greater or equal athletes, because those scoring outputs siggest otherwise.

Re: Garrett County Community College
BMHS went 4-12 in those games. Somewhere along the line we have to ask, how did he help his team win games and what did he do to make his team mates better.
Altoona 30 Lost
New Hope 26 Lost
Fairview 8* injured Lost (Team was down by double digets at half, He didn't play the 2nd half. BMHS lost by less than 4.
Bishop Walsh 7 won
Junior
27 Hollidaysburg Lost
24 Erie McDowell Lost
21 Bishop Walsh Win
14 Altoona Lost
32 GCC Lost
24 Burrell Win
20 West Middlesex Lost
Sophomore
Allderdice 7 Lost
Bishop Canevin 22 Win
Ridgway 15 Lost
Imani Chritian Academy 23 Lost
Quaker Valley 15 Lost
Please don't tell me he he had no help. He just didn't involved others in his game.
I noticed no mention of his scoring stats in the D6 playoffs his 4 years at BMHS. I believe they didn't lose a game when he wasn't the teams leading scorer. I believe their recoed was 13-2 those 4 years. The 2 loses were Penn Cambria and BE, and yes he was the leading scorer for his team in those games.
Since foul trouble was metioned, it's never been posted that he holds both the single season and career records for technical fouls at BMHS by a player, coach or a player who later coached at BMHS.
Individual scoring is over rated. Having the complete game, getting others involved, winning and putting the team first should be any players top priority.
