Down go the Brewers, Bucs can pick up a game.
The Pirates will improve significantly improve when Marte and Barmes take Morel and Martinez's spots on the roster. Plus when Cole hopefully takes Frieri's spot on the roster and Worley's spot in the rotation.

Rare to see Bumgarner have a bad night, just what the Pirates needed!

And I agree that Morel is awful. He probably shouldn't be on anyone's major league roster.

Awesome performance by Vanimal!!! I'm keeping him in the rotation and sending Locke or Volquez to the pen.
You play to win the game!!!
Re: 10 game road trip for the Pirates
Crimson is right in saying he is a .260 "hitter" but he is a .300 "hustler". Dare I say team MVP so far this year?
Re: 10 game road trip for the Pirates
Complete game shutout on 100 pitches! Great performance!!!
How about the double play Mercer and Walker pulled off? I have no clue how Walker made that throw!

Re: 10 game road trip for the Pirates
While I really enjoyed last night's performance, it just reinforces the "tease" factor that the Pirates roll out, way too much. Wouldn't be surprised they get pounded tonight and next game. I hope they prove me wrong, though. Agree with the comments about the roster moves. Volquez to BP as long relief/ set-up guy. Spot starter if needed.
It ain't over until it's over.
Re: 10 game road trip for the Pirates
Much better start to this series than the last.
IMO part of the 'tease' factor surrounding the Pirates has to do with their struggles on the road. They are currently the only team in baseball with an overall winning record but a losing record on the road. As a fan, that is a frustrating stat. Imagine if this team was playing just .500 ball on the road. We would be rooting for a first place team.
When Cole comes back (he went 5 scoreless last night in first of two scheduled rehab starters) it will interesting to see who departs. I am with Crimson it should be Frieri. The guy throws the straightest fastball I have seen since Matt Capps.
Crimson, speaking of Glasnow, when do you think he will make the jump to Altoona? I can't imagine he is going to get more than one or two more starts at Bradenton.

The easiest thing to do in sports is hustle.
