Rockwood cancels JV season (and varsity)

Post by Coach »

Rockwood was going to try to play a JV schedule this year. Isn't happening. They are done.

Can Ridge join the WestPAC for football?

Have to feel bad for the kids that can't play because they can't get enough kids.

Do they have the option of co-op w/ Somerset , Meyersdale or Berlin?

Most teams won't co-op because you have to play up a class. It's probably to late to co-op as well. I'm not sure how it works.

It depends where you're at enrollment wise whether you'd move up a class or not. Meyersdale would if they took on a co-op with Rockwood. Somerset and Berlin would not. Who's Meyersdale already in a co-op with for football? Also, isn't Rockwood in one with Turkeyfoot Valley already?

If a program can not play their schedule for a season, they should automatically have to find a co-op for the next season.

I still would like to see Geibel in D7 maybe try to move to D5...It is 40 minutes away but they could possibly co op to form a "complete" team with Rockwood/Turkeyfoot. Guessing 12 per institution with attrition should give you a squad of 25. Get creative also maybe alternating practice sites on a weekly basis to help offset the travel.
