Week 2 in the ICC

Post by Coach »

O'Donnell is the scariest defensive lineman I've seen in the ICC in a while for high school kids. If he played nose guard, I'm not sure anyone could handle the kid at our level. He can bring it! Imagine him at nose guard and fullback in the formation Glendale uses... He is a legit 6'6" 225 too.

I feel like they used him at FB in the scrimmage against MU. Whoever they had in at FB was a tall tank of a young man.

I know in NBC game they didn't utilize him at all...I don't think he got any touches, which will definitely not help your team if your best player isn't involved...Defensively he is a machine

MU beating JV is no surprise, they could have put up a 100+ if they wanted too. Good coaches and good athletes and they called off the dogs early in the second qtr. MU certainly has a team that can complete for a D6AA title. Loner and Walker are quite a tandem, but they are not the whole team by any stretch. I think the weakness of their schedule could catch up with them. I know they play Bellwood and that will be a good game just cause its Bellwood, though I think MU has too much speed and athleticism across the board, even for a decent Bellwood team to defend.

On the other hand, JV may not win a game this season and the coaching is so, so, so, bad..... They looked totally inept. Last nights performance perhaps was the worst performance and effort by any team I have seen in a very long time, if not ever. I actually chuckled watching the D arrangement of the LB (with 2 knee braces) trying to cover Loner in man, out in space no less. It wasn't like JV was disguising coverage or wound up with that match up from a play designed to flood a zone or anything remotely similar; they literally lined up the LB right in front of Loner to start the play! AND they did it repeatedly, AND as you can imagine, guess what happened. :) Like taking candy from a baby! C'mon coaches, put your kids in a position to succeed and don't embarrass your players!

There were so many things wrong across the board, although as the local paper put it, JV actually has some very talented but young players; its a shame the coaches elect not to use it and/or play kids where they can give the most to the team effort and not serve a few individuals. They are obviously way in over their heads and trying to appease parents so they don't get the same treatment Smith got.

Prepare for a long season in the JV :(, but the kids and the true fans deserve better.
