College Football Playoffs

Post by PLDragons24 »

Why don't they just call it the SEC championships. 3 out 4 are SEC west teams. What a joke.

Everything will eventually work itself out, but it does look like 2 SEC teams will get in. I think Florida State is the most secure team though. Mississippi State isn't going 13-0, so that will change things too.

Honestly it needs to be an 8 team field. There is very little difference between the top ten teams.

I think four teams is enough, but I get why people want 8.

Right now you have 2 undefeated teams, and 15 one-loss teams before the first two loss team is ranked, and right now it's anyone's game. We'll lose a team or two each week, but it makes for a very exciting regular season each week.

ACC - Florida State. They are really the only shot for the league. Duke only has one loss but being ranked the whole way down at 24 is ALOT of ground to make up. They would need to finish 12-1 to even have a chance.

Big Ten - Michigan State is the team with the best chance, but the OSU-MSU game next week is big time, that can give the Buckeyes a HUGE boost if they win. Neberaska being ranked at 15 isn't a bad spot to be in and they'll get a second crack at MSU or a chance at OSU. Same as Duke, if they are 12-1 they'll get a chance.

Big 12 - Right now it's TCU's spot to lose, but Baylor and K State are close behind. All one loss teams, WVU and OU are very good two loss teams. If a Big 12 team can emerge at 11-1, they will have earned it and will be deserving.

Pac 12 - Oregon is one of four one-loss teams from the Pac 12. They have the easiest road to finishing 11-1 before the Pac 12 championship game too. If they handle business, they will be there. If Utah, Arizona, or ASU finished 11-1 it will be a good enough schedule to be considered for the playoff. Each team plays three ranked teams apiece.

SEC - Oh where to even begin? Georgia is the only team in the East that has a chance, and the schedule isn't bad. Now for the West? Who knows, Miss State won't finish undefeated. Bama,Auburn, and Ole Miss are all right there. And oh yeah, LSU with two losses. They'll try their dang hardest to get two SEC teams into this playoff, and a two loss team wouldn't be out of the question.

Other - If Notre Dame is 11-1, they'll be in it. The non-Southern media will have them in. Marshall 8-0? Not even ranked. Not surprised.

Most likely only the SEC champ will have 1 loss so I can't see them putting any of the 2 loss SEC teams in. I think Florida State will go unbeaten and be in. I also think TCU and Oregon will run the table and win their conferences and get in. Then the SEC champion will be in. The rankings at this point is not a very good gauge of how it will end especially because the SEC West teams that are in now still have games against each other and will take each other out.

I would like to see them go to the power 5 conferences playing each other for their out of conference games. If everyone played at least one game against a team from each power conference I think it would help get everyone stronger schedules and help comparisons.

Most Important games this weekend.

2. Florida State at 25. Louisville Thursday 8:00 ESPN
7. TCU at 20. West Virginia Saturday 3:30 ABC
Florida vs. 11. Georgia Saturday 3:30 CBS
3. Auburn at 4. Ole Miss Saturday 7:00 ESPN
Stanford at 5. Oregon Saturday 7:30 FOX
Oklahoma State at K State Saturday 8:00 ABC
10 Notre Dame vs. Navy Saturday 8:00 CBS
12 Arizona at 22 UCLA Saturday 10:30 ESPN
17 Utah at 14 Arizona St Saturday 11:00 FS1

Some really good games there. So of those 17 one loss/undefeated teams we know we are gaining another 2 two-loss teams with Ole Miss-Auburn and Utah-Arizona State.

I just don't understand the need to make a poll middle of the season. Its no different than the BCS!

Why can't this group just hold the top 4 ranking until after the season is done!

They're pretty harmless rankings, it's just to draw up discussions, tv time, internet clicks ect. Everything always works itself out in the end, any ranking in any sport isn't worth anything until the end of the year. If the rankings came out on Sunday night or Monday morning without fanfare it wouldn't feel like the BCS, but it's because of the primetime television special each week, it will make it feel like the BCS. But ESPN makes money, the NCAA makes money. It is what it is, but for the rankings themselves, they are no different than an AP or Coaches weekly poll.

Is the SEC West really that good or is it just the national media trying to make us believe that they are good? Remember that only 2 OCC games they played were worth a darn (LSU vs Wisconsin and Alabama vs WVU). Both games could have went either way even though they were played in the south with a predominately SEC crowd. I don't think all that many people would have Wisky or WVU in the top 3 or 4 of their respective conferences. I just would be frustrated to see 2 teams from the same division of a conference in the playoff.

I really wish with only 4 teams eligible for the playoffs that they would limit each conference to 1 representative.
