I have no tech savvy whatsoever but seeing if anyone can post from Altoona mirror sports the write up on Bellwood BG game and the Bedford Ridge game from the Bedford Gazette and Altoona Mirror here on bleacher coaches from those games last evening? I have no access to being able to read those articles. Thank you for any help

Sorry, both papers require an online subscription. Neither paper would be happy about it being posted here for free.

Re: Request
Coach Hayes will be returning as head coach? If anyone who was at the games provide and highlights or summaries of the games would greatly appreciate it. I was just thinking Bedford was the better team this year. Congrats to Coach Shoemaker and his team. I remember in the 90's that Ridge used the term Blue Flu when it came to playing Bedford in any sport or maybe it was just in football they used that little phrase.

Re: Request
I was at the Bedford/Ridge game. My thinking going in was that Bedford would struggle to tackle on defense and their line would get pushed around a little. But on the other hand I didn't know if the Ridge defense could contain all the weapons Bedford has.
But the defense on both teams came to play. It wasn't a real pretty game at times with turnovers and penalties. Ridge scored first and I think it was the beginning of the second quarter. They were pretty successful running the ball for nice chunks of yardage on the drive and went up 7-0. Bedford came back and scored on a 30 yard or so misdirection run late in the second. Bedford got the ball back and drove down to inside the Ridge 5 with time running out. They lined up for a field goal but the snap was bad. The snapper gave the ball to Montgomery who was the kicker and he attempted a pass into the endzone that fell incomplete but a penalty was called. Time had expired but it can't end on a defensive penalty. Bedford then scored on a halfback option pass. I didn't understand what the penalty was. It looked like they called roughing the kicker but once he is running with the ball he is no longer the kicker. Maybe someone knows what happened there. So it was Bedford 14-7 at the half.
Ridge scored the only points in the second half and they all were from Bedford turnovers. I think the first turnover was an interception and they eventually scored a TD to tie 14-14. Then near the end of the game Bedford fumbled and Ridge recovered. The Bedford defense held at a certain point in the drive but the Ridge kicker made a 41 yard field goal. I was very surprised he made it considering how cold it was. So the kicking game came up huge for Ridge. And special teams has been a big part of Bedford's success but Ridge contained it very well. Bedford also had two punts that went less 10 yards. One only went about 3 yards. So they really struggled in that part of the game.
All in all it was a good, closely contested game. Both teams had about 230 yards of offense. Good luck to Ridge against Karns City.

Re: Request
At the half they didn't rough the kicker. They roughed the center. You can not hit the center because his head is down.
