WPIAL...The Best Football District in PA
The WPIAL sends all 4 District Champions to Hershey. Since the inception of the state tournament in 1988, only 1 time has a Greater Pittsburgh area team failed to win a championship. Let the WPIAL hate begin...

They'll be favorites in the lower classifications, underdogs in the bigger ones. Hoping Central Valley can pull it off in AAA.

Agree. I think SF will be a heavy favorite. CV will be a 2-3 TD dog and I don't know much about SJP. And oh, the three SJP losses proves how weak PA football is.

People only hate District 7 because of comments and bragging like this, I don't have any problems with the players and such. Most people respect the teams, and for good reason, they win a lot.
It's the arrogance that gets people, not the success.

Re: WPIAL...The Best Football District in PA
Obviously the WPIAL is the best overall district in the state, and for good reason. But to come in here and act like every other team is a joke because they don't play in the WPIAL is completely ridiculous.
Your bashing on Somerset was completely uncalled for and the fact that you think BG is going to get blown out is pretty ridiculous also (although it might happen, any given sunday and all that).
Try and be a bit more humble?

don't they also have the largest amount of schools by a wide margin? Sounds less like dominance and more like statistics to me.

Re: WPIAL...The Best Football District in PA
First, on another thread I accurately predicted Somerset was going to get their doors blown off today. I was right. Second, no one said every other team is a joke. I never said BG was going to get blown out. I predicted 46-28. That's an 18 point game which would make it Clairtons second closest game. As far as D7 being large, 2 points to that. First, they put one team in the tournament just like every other district. Second, Allegheny County, 1 county, has almost 30 state titles...i think 27. Again this year, Allegheny County sends 3 teams. So even if you take away 8 of the 9 counties that make up the WPIAL, that is still dominance. Allegheny County is the heart of the WPIAL. It's not an overload of teams, it's a better brand of football.

More population = more titles. If the PCL had been playing for titles since 1988 I'm sure they would have more. And up until a few years ago the WPIAL champ was right in the state semis. And I don't think the WPIAL is too large, it is a traditional conference that has been around long before 1988. But numbers are numbers.
