Absolutely. I don't want to lose to my rivals. I don't even remember who Somerset beat to win district 6. I do remember them losing to Bishop Guilfoyle.

That's like an NFL team saying they would rather win their division than win the Super Bowl... I doubt many if any have that outlook.

I guess in AAA there are so few teams that I could see your argument. In A and AA the main goal is to win districts. That is usually the ceiling for teams in D6 except for once in awhile a team like BG this year comes along and has a legitimate chance at states. For most teams anything after districts is icing on the cake.

Yeah that really only applies for the AAA representative since it's such a small playoff. I still think AA and A teams top goal should be districts, and see how far you can go from there in states

I think the goals change with the program. Some programs just winning 5 games and making the playoffs is a success, others winning a district is enough, and then the others winning states is that icing on the top. Lets say Somerset makes it to the state semi's for the next five years, at some point their goal should be breaking that glass ceiling and make it to states.

I've personally love the multiple season approach.

Season 1: conference play! Try and win as many conference games to finish high, qualify for playoffs and give yourself to bring home the conference crown.

Season 2: district playoffs: focus on each round and treat the d6 title game as the winner of the tournament (3 rounds)

Season 3: States! Be happy with making this far! Try and play your best games leaving nothing out there but never be disappointed. Its just another 3 round tournament like districts
