But I thought you had to really standout to go d-1 around here. I guess if you have that 4.4/4.5 speed or a 6-3 270lb frame they will take you and give you a look.

I don't know if we were watching the same kid then, I knew Gibson was D1 after watching 30 seconds of his sophomore film.

Gibsons senior year stats on offense was 14 carries-92yds 1td. 27receptions-353 yds-3tds. 2fumbles lost. On defense 12 solo-11 assists for 23 tackles 1 int. Not d-1 stats to me. Fast, but small for d-1. Not saying he didn't have talent, but d-1?? jmo, but I don't know talent. jmo though.

And the talent I liked was mckolosky, chadbourn, heiple, barnes, montgomery, cook, seymour, and shaffer. Check their stats out on offense and defense. That is talent to me. Even blough and the qb for forest hills. Those are the players I noticed. Not bad for talent.

Production always takes a back seat to ability when it comes to scouting. You can teach some one how to play football but you can't make them extremely athletic. That's why there is always mediocre high school players that turn into great college players and all state high school players that don't even get offers. Same goes for players coming out of college and turning pro.

Good point you have their. But I think he probably runs a 4.4 and the others I mentioned run 4.5-4.6 40s too. You can't teach speed. By no means am I cutting down any player and I wish all the best of luck in college and enjoyed watching them all play. But my point is if you are that fast and good, don't you think they would have some insane stats going d-1. Also if you couldn't get those stats against high school kids, what makes you think they will do it at a d-1 college? They run 4.4 too and are much bigger. That is all I am saying. Not knocking anyone just being a bleachercoach and discussing.

One more thing to add, I think the guys mentioned are pretty much studs and have athletic ability in 3 sports.

Well ill use Jack Ham as an example. From everything I've been told about him, he was a good player in high school but nothing special and that he was probably the third or so best on the team at McCort. I believe he ended up going to a junior college or something for a year. Then once he got to Penn State they got him to finally play to his ability and he turned into a college and pro hall of famer. It's not about how good you are right now, it's about how high your ceiling is and how good you can be.

Steve Smear really pushed the coaching staff into taking Jack Ham, if they pass, he may never have turned into a Hall of Famer.
