Re: Pens up for sale again
Well, those teams also are more compelling to what I'm saying anyway.
Re: Pens up for sale again
The team is not up for sale and the team is definitely not relocating. Rumors are buzzing that Burkle and Mario are looking into selling. Far fetched from your preposition that they are already for sale and are most likely moving to Seattle.
They've done this before. Quite frankly I think both of them are tired of it. Burkle has been there for 16 years, and he's seen all the walks of the pens teams.
Pens aren't going anywhere, they may have a new owner by year 2018 but they are relocating. If a team were to relocate it wouldn't be to Seattle. It would probably be in the south or a Great Lake state like Michigan. Not Seattle.

Re: Pens up for sale again
Seattle is very much in the running for a team, Michigan couldn't take on a second team. But the point is, the Pens aren't in danger of being a candidate of being relocated.
Re: Pens up for sale again
An article in the Post-Gazette stated that even if they choose to sell, Lemieux and Burkle would still keep a portion of the ownership: http://www.post-gazette.com/sports/peng ... 1506030263
The 30-year lease for the Consol Energy Center and the surrounding development interests they control all but guarantee this franchise is not going anywhere for a long time barring bankruptcy.
Phoenix or Florida are the current prime candidates for relocation with Las Vegas, Quebec and Seattle as the front-runners to land a team. Kansas City and Hamilton have an outside shot as well. Expansion to 32 teams is also being considered, but all that will do is water the product down even more.

I am sorry Crimson I didn't mean Michigan I meant Wisconsin, my fault.

Phoenix and Florida aren't going anywhere. In fact the expansion is more likely to happen.upnorth wrote:An article in the Post-Gazette stated that even if they choose to sell, Lemieux and Burkle would still keep a portion of the ownership: http://www.post-gazette.com/sports/peng ... 1506030263

In the running for teams are Quebec, a couple cities in Oklahoma, Las Vegas, Atlanta, Wheeling, another team in Texas, and the one I've heard the most: Hamilton.

Re: Pens up for sale again
its clear they are going to sell a portion of the team... They also said they are also looking to sell the whole team. pens are valued around 500 million. I know there are rich people in the northwest that'd be willing to buy them for 700 million to get another professional team in seattle.
Re: Pens up for sale again
Florida and their extremely low attendance are likely to relocate over the next few years. They have been attempting to modify their lease agreement with Broward County for a year now. The franchise is bleeding money.Jrs237 wrote:Phoenix and Florida aren't going anywhere. In fact the expansion is more likely to happen.

Atlanta? Nope, the NHL has tried that twice now. Wheeling? You have to be joking. That's like saying Johnstown is in the mix.
