College football is back
College football is finally back. Who does everyone think will be the playoff teams this year and how will PSU and Pitt do?

I'll say Ohio State, Oklahoma, UCLA and Alabama will be the playoff teams.
I think Penn State will go 9-3 and Pitt will go 6-6.

I think we'll see multiple d1 schools make millions and millions of dollars while kids get boned.

Yep. Oh well. At least they get paid some money now. I do think they should get more money but I can't feel bad for them even if I try. I'm still paying school loans back 11 years later. I think getting free food, housing, tuition, plus their stripend pay is a pretty decent deal.

Penn State
Temple W - Scary game for PSU, which is pretty bad to say for Temple, but Temple will be a bowl team and have a pretty good D
Buffalo W - Easy win
Rutgers W - Night game, Blue and White out. I expect Penn State to play well
San Diego St W - Could be a trap game in getting to 6-0, but the early start will be tough for SD St.
Army W - Easy Win
Indiana W - Penn State does not get caught looking ahead to OSU and starts 6-0
@Ohio State L - Ohio State will want to run up the score in this one. I expect they will as the talent differential is still great between the teams. OSU 31 PSU 13
@Maryland W - Penn State gets revenge and rebounds from OSU loss
Illinois W - Penn State wins big
@Northwestern W - Potential let down game, but I think Penn State pulls it out
Michigan W - I expect both of these teams to be playing much better than they have in years by this point. I think PSU wins because of the home crowd, but could see a loss here
@Michigan St L - I am half tempted to put PSU pulling off the upset, because I think MSU will be coming off a tough loss to Ohio State the week prior, but MSU has too much
Overall between 10-2 and 8-4 - I think Penn State has 2 probable losses in OSU and Mich St and a group of games where I think they will be favored but could lose. Mich, Northwestern and to a lesser extent Maryland, SD St., and Temple. I think the first game will tell people a lot about where Penn State is in their rebuild. I don't think Penn State is a 10-2 team talentwise, but they have a schedule which was made for sanctioned seasons that allows for it
Pitt
Youngstown St. W - Beat Pitt in Chryst's debut and there are some eerily similar suspensions and injuries, but I think Pitt will win something like 38-17 this time
@Akron W - It would not surprise me if this was a close game. Akron won last year and returns some talent. Pitt pulls away late
@Iowa L - Many Pitt fans are calling this an easy win. I don't think Iowa will be great, but I don't think Pitt is either. Night game @Iowa and I will take Iowa to pull it out
@Virginia Tech L - Pitt falls to 2-2
Virginia W - I don't think Virginia gets the QB play to win this, but I think it's close much like last year
@GT L - Loss
@Syracuse W - Pitt wins late
North Carolina W - I think this is a game which could lead Pitt in either a downward spiral or regain momentum...Thursday night at home. I think Boyd and Conner come up big
Notre Dame L - Notre Dame finds a way to sneak past Pitt
@Duke W - I think Duke will take a step back this year. Pitt wins
Lousiville L - Louisville is a lot of peoples sleeper this year. I think Pitt's D will struggle to keep them out of the end zone
Miami W - Miami in cold weather and Al Golden's last game as head coach(or maybe he is fired before this) Pitt makes a bowl game on the final day of the season again
Overall between 5-7 and 8-4. Many expect Narduzzi to come in and magically turn it around, but the schedule is tougher this year than it was last year and players are learning new schemes. This often causes offenses to take a step back. Season will depend on QB play. In addition, the OLine will have struggles with some younger players taking over.

How much money did you bring into the university every Saturday?PLDragons24 wrote:Yep. Oh well. At least they get paid some money now. Like I said I think they should get more and like I said I don't feel bad for them at all. It's not like it was 10 years ago. Before they were basically living in poverty, had limited meals, and had no money to go out and do stuff. That's not the case anymore. I think now they have a pretty good deal. And also the University wasn't investing any money into me either. But really I just don't care anymore. We've been having this discussion for the last 40 years but at least things have gotten much better for them.

I still think they should be allowed to profit off their name. Those kids have their fair share of walking around money, enough so Cincinnati and Va Tech thought they could "fine" players for bad grades,skipping classes, ect...
But if Christian Hackenberg and James Conner sign 100 autographs for someone like Manziel did, why shouldn't they get the money? I can't think of a good reason.

See it's not as much about the money but the time they put in. It's nice to get a scholarship but when these teams are making you wake up before class to work out, practice in the middle of the day for 3 hours, and force you into missing valuable class time to travel for games its a bit hard to ask why are the athletes getting the short stick...
It's even worse for basketball and baseball players. Some of these sports have their teams take week's away from school during mid terms and more.
