In 2013 the Pirates went with this rotation

Game 1 - Burnett
Game 2 - Cole
Game 3 - Liriano
Game 4 - Morton
Game 5 - Cole

This year I would go

1 - Cole
2 - Liriano
3 - Burnett
4 - Happ
5- Cole

Magic # is 1 to clinch a playoff spot, with 11 yet to play. Guess they'll make it. Too bad they lost the wild card host to Cubs. What's with the piss-poor baserunning again? And this time it was Cutch falling asleep. Stupid, STUPID mistakes will cost them games.

Am I missing something? They are 2 up on the Cubs for the home game in the Wild Card right now. I have seen this posted before and don't know what I'm missing.

I believe in the event the Cubs and Pirates finish the season with identical records the game would be played in Chicago due to record in head to head games.

The Pirates have the second best record in baseball, and if the season ended today the Cubs would travel to Pittsburgh for the one game playoff. But the Cubs do hold a tiebreaker, but the Pirates are still up 2 games today. Needless to say this weekend will go a long way in deciding where the wild card game will be. But I think it could come down to the final day of the season.

Yes the 2nd and 3rd best teams in baseball are going to be forced into a terrible 1 game series for playoffs. Something seems horrifically wrong with that.

The Pirates weren't really in serious danger of missing the playoffs when this thread was even started.
