Berlin apparently pushed for Richland and/or Johnstown, but it was District 5 that shut it down. They wanted it kept in the district, but I sure would have liked to see at Trojan Stadium.
Friday at the game one of the concession workers told my friend the game would be at Richland. So I'm sure a lot of people were thinking the same as us.

After reading the Clairton Bears Football facebook page, it's clear they are a paranoid fan base and it starts with the coach.

Wade is always arguing with players and coaches and fans on Twitter. It's such a bad look, it's unbelievable. He got in an argument with the Bishop Guilfoyle quarterback a few weeks ago.   If you are a head coach, it's probably not in you best interest to be getting in social media fight. Makes you look like a jackass.

I wholeheartedly agree the game shouldn't be on a grass field, but the people from Clairton need to understand it's not a power move from the PIAA to try to make them fail. Berlin has to play on the same surface, Berlin had to travel to a school close to Clairton last year. Somerset wasn't available, and the District put the game there against Berlin's wishes.  Sometimes you just have to accept it, it's not always a conspiracy theory.  And in all fairness, Clairton is very likely going to win this game on any surface.

If it's dry I will be there. I'll be pulling for Berlin with the underdog factor, but I'm excited to see Lamont Wade in person.  He is ranked as the 5th best junior in the entire country.  He's the highest ranked Western PA recruit since Terrelle Pryor was ranked #1 overall.

And to build off the game play, both teams play on grass throughout the regular season.   The key here is, it's not like Berlin is a bruising triple option team with a big fullback. They play the same game as Clairton. Fochtman is a 5'7" 175 speed back back, not a 6-2 220 pound bruiser.  The field affects Berlin in a lot of the game ways.  Watching the clips from last year's game, Fochtman was able to cut and outrun the Bears on the turf field, I don't know if he makes those cuts in a mudbath.

St. WPIAL upset about something outside of their own mighty dominion? Color me shocked.

But maybe they do need to desiginate super sites that will host two or three games when you get to this point, which will be 24 games next season, so 8 to 10 sites across the state compared to 14 this weekend (Hershey and Northern Lehigh used twice).  Something like Clarion, NA or Fox Chapel, Altoona, State College, Hershey, Philadelphia, Allentown or Kutztown, E. Stroudsburg or Bloomsburg.

Berlin was a young soccer team when I was a senior in HS (2014). We beat on them pretty good and the score was always lopsided but I can honestly say one thing: we never had an easy game against them. They were hard nosed, in your face guys that weren't willing to give an inch. I respected that so much because it was hard to come by in D5 soccer and I think it actually paid dividends when we made our run into the state playoffs. When Berlin beat my alma mater this year in the D5 championship game I was obviously very disappointed. But I was also on the same token content with Berlin being the school to do it. I can honestly say in any sport I've done (wrestling, soccer, hockey) I have had the most respect for Berlin players. You are hard-working, humble, and talented people. Know that when you step on that field and you fill those stands at CT Stadium. Don't buy into that social media bullshit, don't say a word to them. Do your thing on the field, respond to the critics on the field; slay the giant. You are playing for a once in a lifetime opportunity so do it.

You got a whole district backing you so go out and get it.
