If Hackenberg is looking for a coaching job in a few years he definitely thanked the right guy. BOB has far more clout then James.
Maybe Hack saw through the salesman persona?

If Hackenberg is looking for a minor coaching job in a few years, then BO'B certainly didn't help him with his pro-career.

As long as franklin keeps putting out winning seasons his seat is safe.... it will take 10 years before penn state fans start expecting top 25 teams consistently after the sanctions and how close the program was to death

If they go 7-6 again next season, people will start getting restless.

Seriously???? After having sanctions and potentially could of had 0 football after that sandusky finding.

Did they make a january bowl and get paid: Yes
Are they still competitive: yes
Were they in the ridiculous side of the big 10 conferences: yes.

As long as he is getting them to a bowl game he will not feel heat. It wasnt like Joe Pa had that many amazing years near the end.

Penn State Football should have never received sanctions anyhow. The individuals should have been held accountable, not the players. Why would you punish the players 10 years after the fact for something a few coaches were involved in. Even with the sanctions, we've had some top notch players. Anyhow. Mr Madden, we are Penn State and we are not mediocre. Like you stated previously, you can get into a bowl with a 7-6 record. This is the longest stretch since 1965 that PSU has not had at least 9 wins.

I think the truth on Franklin and Hackenburg falls somewhere in the middle. Two people can both be very good at what they do but just not in the right situation at the right time. Belichek was fired by the Browns. Brady struggled to find the field through a lot of his career at Michigan. Once you put them together, they have became the best QB/coach combination in 20+ years.

B'OB and Hack had some magic but also had a several other pieces on the offense that are now key contributors on Sunday's.

Franklin won at Vanderbilt. He also probably overachieved in his 1st season by getting PSU to 7 wins. This year, PSU probably underachieved by a win or 2. Next year will be very important for both Franklin and Penn State.

7 months before the season kicks off, most realistic Penn State fans are hoping for 9 wins. @Pitt, @Michigan, Iowa, Ohio State, and Michigan State are all on the schedule. Penn State will be talented enough to beat some of those teams. They also play 9 B1G games so really there are only 2 guarantees on the entire schedule. My hope is a win over Pitt and one of those 4 mentioned big conference games. That gets them to 9 wins.

Funny, isn't it. konjo says "As long as Franklin keeps putting out winning seasons, his seat is safe". Yet, Jamie Dixon drops to under 20 wins last year, and konjo is screaming for his scalp.
