I wonder what the Mount's rent is, I'd imagine more than the district is willing to pay for a single game.

Bishop Carroll would've been fine for Hollidaysburg/Forest Hills

Public school is free, private schools cost money.  In some instances, a kid can receive some financial aid to attend a private school.  I just don't understand why people care what someone pays to go to a school or not.
Its not about public school or private school.
Its about athletes who transfer getting their tuition at the private school paid for.... There is a big difference from paying at a private and not paying. When athletes get free tuition its the problem most people find
I'm not looking to re-hash a patch of well worn ground here but does anyone know of a transfer who actually got their tuition paid for because of an athletic transfer? Not heard about or rumored, but know, because if you did I would report the, school, coach, and athlete to either D6 or the PIAA.

Report them and there will be a hearing if there is any substance to it. I've stopped posting on here because I know no matter how reasoned you try to be there are people here who hate private schools and all they stand for athletically and sometimes for other reasons, when the PIAA is where you should be directing your anger. I've stated before that I've had 2 kids go through BG and have one there currently and two of them played/play sports to a varying degree. I've also said that I'm not fan of how many transfers have happened in the girls BB program, one because of the inequity of it and two, because it hurts girls who've come up within the program. However, I don't believe for one second that any transfer is going to school for free because of athletics. I know my children certainly haven't and it has been a large sacrifice to send them there.

While you never know what goes on with a family's private finances, I think it would have come out at some point if someone was going to school for free. After all, there are people who teach, coach, and work in the office at the private schools who send their kids there and would not be happy if they were paying while someone else wasn't based on the value of a jump shot. I guess in the end I just question how anyone can say with such certainty that athletes are receiving full tuition scholarships without any tangible proof, other than "I heard from a friend that she is transferring and getting a scholarship" to back it up. Discuss amongst yourselves and best of luck to the local kids remaining in the basketball/wrestling playoffs and tournaments, both public and private.

For the past two seasons Portage has played a double header Boys & Girls Varsity games there on a Saturday afternoon. Last year against Conemaugh Valley and this year versus Penn Cambria. So you figure it can't be THAT expensive....right ???

Bc was to small for homer boys vs bg. It was standing room only. And it was an oven in there. Now maybe it was a larger crowd than normal, but it was clear ppl were unhappy and roasting. Not sure if fh and burg would draw a bigger crowd, but my guess is yes

In most places of the world the larger schools outdraw the smaller ones, but in the District 5/6/9 region of the world smaller schools seem to draw better.

BC might be a tad small, but for a single game no double header it might have been just right and made for a better atmosphere than a 5:00 tip in Tyrone.

You bring up a very good point. And I wasn't arguing your point. I was just stating what I witnessed the other night. But I guess it was a bg double header. Plus homer was the nightcap, and their girls played at central cambria in an earlier game. So there was prob a large crowd that rolled down the hill(and then up it to bc)

That's what I got. Only I'm thinking there's a slight chance blairsville can beat bc. Always a chance when u got the best player on the floor. And I'm pretty sure in that game it's blairsvilles enterline. Carroll is no doubt the better team, but enterline proved that theory to b right earlier in the week beating a better bg team( better than blairs that is)
