I think it would be a great hire. Altoona needs someone to bring some enthusiasm back to the program and get kids wanting to play. Taneyhill has a nice track record with multiple state titles in South Carolina and coaching is definitely in his blood. I remember watching Steve when he played for South Carolina and if he carries that same kind of fire to coaching I think he's just what the doctor ordered.
You play to win the game!!!

whoa! that would be interesting. He's been pretty successful as a prep coach in South Carolina.

Bill, I was doing some googling yesterday... do you know if Taneyhill applied back when they brought Franco in? I thought I saw something that said he did.
I'm not surprised at all that he's had some success in SC, he probably attacks coaching just like he did playing football and basketball back in the day! That Giger article had him saying all the right things. It sounds like the more and more people tell him he can't turn it around, the more he wants the chance to prove them wrong. Also, being unphased by the whole WPIAL thing is a plus as that caused quite a public rift between that last coach and AD.
That guy was such a classic heel back in the 90s man. Got under your skin so bad as an opponent. I remember some of the guys that I played baseball with that also played basketball would simply write his name on the chalk board to get fired up. hahahaha

Kek...I know nothing other than what I saw....I can say that Riccio just sent me their ad for the position to post on the site late last week...so I would assume they were still looking at that time...

Big rumor in Altoona is that they are close to getting a deal with Justin Wheeler as an administrator and football coach. Kills BG
