I saw Westmont beat Forest Hills today. What did anyone who was at this game today take away from it? Will Wesmont be better than people predicted or is it just going to be a tough season in Sidman this season?

I'm a little curious as to how Westmont scored that many points. They didn't seem to be a big play team last year, just controlled the clock with long time-consuming drives. Do they have more speed this year? 45 points is a lot for how they approach the game.

Every gain Westy had came from a cut-back run to daylight. Every one. Once they broke the line, they outran what defense may have been there. They only threw 1 pass, and that was right before the half that meant little. They didn't have to punt either. A team with good LB's that can stop the run at or near the line of scrimmage will stop Westy cold. Westy's pass defense was not too good. 5 TD passes from Cecere to Long. The only real offense FH had. Thought the onside kick that led to the go-ahead TD would be good enough to stand up in the heat, but Westy overcame a weak Ranger D. 4-6 may now be a reach.
It ain't over until it's over.

I think FH needed this one, to have a realistic shot at finishing 5-5. And, because of school policy, 4-6 won't make the playoffs, even if they end up as the 8 seed in AAA
By the way, is that accurate, will 8 teams in D5/D6 AAA qualify for playoffs?

I just read in the Mirror that while # of playoff teams have not yet been determined that the thought of an 8 team field is unlikely. Sounds like they are considering either a 6 team field with possibly reseeding after the first round or a 4 team field.

Thx. 6, or 4, makes more sense than 8. Especially when you're filling those slots from a total of only 10 teams, I believe.

Fh skill positions seem ok , but what about the line? Heard that Ruddek left, but they don't even seem to have much size there to be coached. This appears like the second year in a row Don prefers to line up a potential lineman in the backfield , just looks like Elgin might help more at guard than at Rb, just like wiezoric would have last year,

Westmont runs their offense well but play best when they are winning, not really built to come from behind.
