Pirates lose 4 straight! Wildcard dreams over?
Re: Pirates lose 4 straight! Wildcard dreams over?
I'm the eternal optimist. If they can win tonight, there is still a flicker of hope.
Another hope, is that this crushing loss doesn't have the same effect as the 1992 loss to the Braves........yowza...1 strike away from a win they desperately needed, after rallying from down 5-0....double yoy.....there were some hurting players in the locker room last night.
Ya gotta Get Back Up. 26 games to go. Stranger things have happened,.....Steelers comeback playoff win over Bengals, for example. I watched it, and still don't believe it.
Ya never give up.

You serious Clark? Throw more wood on this and just let it burn. Maybe they'll tear down the field, to build a big lot and the price of parking for the Steelers will go down. (this is me being very upset)223113 wrote:I'm the eternal optimist. If they can win tonight, there is still a flicker of hope.

Down to their last strike... Watson throws an 0-2 fastball belt high and it get crushed. Then he can't recompose himself enough to get the last out. He continues to throw belt high fastball batting practice. The guy doesn't have the mental make-up to be a closer.

The Pirates play the Reds eight times, the Phillies four and the Brewers three after tonight. If they go 14-2....
Re: Pirates lose 4 straight! Wildcard dreams over?
These 3 teams are terrible, will be throwing no name pitchers, and have the same old crappy roster...they're going to pound the snot out of us. Now if we were going against King Felix, Kershaw, Strasburg, Verlander, Archer, and Darvish...we'd win at least 5 of 6. We can't beat those who we should. Throw wood on, let it burn. I've had enough. Cannon fuses all got wet.knowitall wrote:The Pirates play the Reds eight times, the Phillies four and the Brewers three after tonight. If they go 14-2....

I hope last night's 9th inn. puts an end to the Watson-as-closer failed experiment. Give it to Rivero.
It ain't over until it's over.

Is Rivero the flavor of the day or are we helplessly hoping?

Rivero has been the best reliever for a month now, his walk rate concerns me. He may be the team's closer in a year or two, probably not tonight.

Are you implying that it's time for: (I took the liberty of tweaking that most-famous eulogy.) "O God, ease our suffering in this, our moment of great despair. Yea, admit this kind and decent Team into thy arms of thine heavenly area, up there. And Moab, he lay us upon the band of the Canaanites, and yea, though the Hindus speak of karma, I implore you:.... give them a break." If they lose tonight,..........I'll agree that Elvis has left the building. But, hold off on heaping the wood on,...just for tonight...lets see what happens....12HankQB wrote:You serious Clark?
