There's a lot of schools out there without football programs that do have basketball, so they flood class A and push some schools up a spot.

District 5 has 12 football teams, yet 21 basketball teams.

Crimson,
Are you going to do a basketball preview again this year?  Always an enjoyable read!

I haven't thought much about it, but I can work on something for sure.

In the WestPAC North, I think Ferndale will win the section easily. The only competition on that side might be Portage. In the South, I think Shanksville will also repeat as section champ. This side will be better, with Shade, Berlin, and Turkeyfoot competing. If this works out, this will make for another really good WestPAC title game.

Ferndale in the North? They lost 85% of their scoring. You cannot replace players like Hinton in a public school. Teams used to get out of their traditional defense and play box and 1 or triangle on him. Even in traditional defenses, everyone's eyes were on him. I can't see them matching that level of production.

Township is traditionally good and they have their best player back who played a lot as a freshmen. I see them contending.

Portage lost their best two defenders and the secondary ball handler. They will have to find a way to replace that.

I agree with your assessment of the South though. Shanksville should be a tough out for anyone.

Agree that Hinton cannot be replaced. Outstanding player. No one player will match his individual scoring.

Hinton was actually closer to 55% of the team scoring with another 35% coming from McCombie & Shaffer. The rest of the team added another 10%. Look for that 10% to step up with added opportunities. Ferndale is definitely in the conversation for the North.
