Re: Thursday State Championships
Sounds like there was confusion in the McCort game as well, both teams brought white jerseys. Fortunately Minersville had their blue jerseys as well.DragonsDoExist wrote:Kennedy Catholic issued a technical foul to start game for wearing wrong uniforms.

What the Heck is wrong with those people?!?Crimson's Ghost wrote:Quick complaint about the PIAA/Giant Center. They reserve the middle 3 sections on either sideline and charge more to sit there.
So the fans of either team has to sit off to the sides in the corner while the middle sections are empty.
Seems wrong to make a state title game and you can't even sit in normal seats at mid-court.
I'm trying to imagine that committee conversation/debate....
-Hey! I have an idea! Lets charge $2 more for the seats in the middle portion of the seating! It's not so much that it'll crush people's wallets, they'll pay it, and we'll make more money!!
-Shouldn't the cost of admission for all similar, bleacher-type seating be the same? Kinda seems like price gouging. If all seats cost the same, the reward for arriving earlier is, you get the pick of the seating??
-Shut up! We're trying to make money here, you bleeding heart. The early arrivers can Still have the pick of the seating,...they'll just pay more!
-But,...the Late arrivers were probably not going to get mid-court seats anyhow, as they would've been filled by early arrivers..... So, the people we're really gouging,...are the early arrivals...typically the parents/family of the players.....
-Shut up! If we want your opinion, we'll give it to you.

Re: Thursday State Championships
They have always done this. The teams fans get stuck in each corner while , I guess mid court is reserved for either walk ups or big wigs.

I wasn't aware. I haven't been to Hershey since Westmont girls played in 2004. Didn't realize this is how they distributed seats.
Just seems weird, every game in the season you can sit wherever than you get to the nice big arena and the fans of the teams don't get the best seating.

You can pay two bucks more to sit in the middle LOL!!Crimson's Ghost wrote:Quick complaint about the PIAA/Giant Center. They reserve the middle 3 sections on either sideline and charge more to sit there.

Re: Thursday State Championships
Wasn't there this year, but have been to finals games at Giant Center before so I assume its similar in that all fans from one school sit in one corner and opposing fans sit in another. I was always under the assumption they placed teams fans in 2 of the 4 corner sections to be able to accommodate fans for the following fans. For example, if McCort game fans were in corners 1 and 3, then the following games fans would be 2 and 4 to ensure that all team's fans had a place to sit. If all fans were able to sit in the middle, the following games fans would not be able to get proper seating until right before gametime.

Re: Thursday State Championships
$2 isn't the issue, but if I'm a fan of one team I'm obviously going to sit with all the other fans. That's the thing. It's not like you make it to the state semifinals at Altoona and they have the middle sections roped off. It's a high school basketball game, there shouldn't be reserved sections.Icoach wrote:You can pay two bucks more to sit in the middle LOL!!Crimson's Ghost wrote:Quick complaint about the PIAA/Giant Center. Yea that was the premise they had. They do that in the NCAA tournament. It's usually in double header formats and each team gets a corner/side.PsuDfense30 wrote:Wasn't there this year, but have been to finals games at Giant Center before so I assume its similar in that all fans from one school sit in one corner and opposing fans sit in another. Minutes away from starting the caption said. Look at that crowd! Another picture during the game on that site shows just how ridiculous this seating scheme was.
Re: Thursday State Championships
No dog in this fight, just a comment or 2. It's been a number of years since I've been to Hershey for finals, and when I went, with a few friends, we were there to watch either ALL the games, or at least a good number of them. And we wanted the best seats we could get, regardless of a couple bucks more. It was like a mini-vacation weekend.
It ain't over until it's over.
