Bishop Carroll back in the LHAC....sort of.
The Tribune-Democrat is reporting that Bishop Carroll is back in the LHAC for all sports, minus football. The league previously unanimously voted them out 11-0 earlier this year.
The article mentioned, that the 9 public schools pressured the other two Catholic to vote Carroll out, or be voted out themselves.
Bishop Carroll wants to get back into the league for football as well, and states they have 30 some kids out for football this season.

Re: Bishop Carroll back in the LHAC....sort of.
I think it's a positive thing for Bishop Carroll. No denying that. I'm sure they still want the football thing to happen, but for now this is a positive step. Bishop Carroll has other solid athletic programs, and they add value to the LHAC and not only that, they have rivalries, and schools have rivalries with them. No reason Bishop Carroll and Central Cambria shouldn't be playing twice a year in basketball. BC's girls and boys basketball are both highly successful programs, that can compete in this league, and add to this league's reputation.
So in that regard, I'm glad to see that happen.
Overall, the whole thing was an entirely football driven move, and it still is.
In my time seriously paying attention to football around here, Cambria Heights had some lousy years, Westmont too. A few other LHAC schools have toed that line as well. I'm talking long extended 5+ years of barely winning games. That's what BC is facing right now. They aren't really even competitive right now for the most part either. It's a tough place to be.
I don't know if they will ever get the LHAC invitation to play football, so in a sense, I'm not sure how much things really change. Bishop Carroll's other athletic programs will be fine, but what the heck are they going to do for football? Who are they going to play?
From the LHAC's perspective, I can see why they were worried about BC. They moved their program to a essentially a practice field. They aren't competing. They aren't fielding a JV team. They don't have high numbers projected. There have been constant rumors about the school's future. I think all those things were real. I also think 2 of the public schools had some petty reasons as well, which only added to it.
From BC's perspective, I can see their gripe as well. Other schools have low roster numbers, and shaky JV rosters also. Heck they probably should have beaten Central Cambria this year with a team that couldn't compete with most of the league, so to kick them out with almost beating their rival had to have felt weird.
I mean it's good for BC to have a home for most of their sports. It's good for the LHAC's other sports to have BC still around. But Bishop Carroll's football program is kinda still in the same place as it was before this announcement.

And to be perfectly honest, I can't make a strong argument why Bishop Carroll football should be readmitted. Chestnut Ridge adds more value for football. Carroll adds more value than Ridge for basketball. Best of both worlds, I guess.

What does this mean for Chestnut Ridge in the other sports, besides football? Surely the LHAC would want the CR wrestling program in the league with all it's success.
Re: Bishop Carroll back in the LHAC....sort of.
I am confused. How does the oversight committee's cease and desist order not affect football? So the oversight committee sent a letter telling the LHAC to cease and desist, but you do not have to include football?
