Why has no one played up?
Why has no one played up?
I understand that BG should bump up, but looking at it opposite. Why have no teams elected to play AA. There is not good odds of Portage, Homer Center etc beating BG. But isn't there a better chance of them winning the District in AA. We have seen Alliquipa do this for years in D7 and probably other teams out there as well.

Probably because Ligonier would beat Homer and Portage by the same, if not more than BG would.
Re: Why has no one played up?
Are you saying that BG is not as good as LV? That is what I am reading? Take a Division 1 athlete off of LV and you see what kind of respect they got in the rankings this year. This year LV will be good but have not seen anyone predicting that they will win the state like BG.

I think Ligonier and BG are really good teams, I'm not sure who would win head to head. But both teams are significantly better then the rest of D6 A, and AA for that matter.

Isn't BM AA? There's your answer.

BM should have played up to AAA to avoid Ligonier last year.knowitall wrote:Isn't BM AA? There's your answer.

Isn't Central AAA? The real reason is probably quite simple. Single A schools continue to compete as single A schools because they are single A schools.

Yeah, poor attempt at humor by me. Prior to last year, McCort was working on 3-4 straight losing seasons, so they shouldn't of scared anyone off from moving up. I'm sure teams stayed where they were because that's where they are supposed to be.
Very few teams play up throughout the state. I think Aliquippa's reason to play up has more to do with playing teams locally than doing it for the extra challenge.

Correct about Quips, they want to keep their local rivalries going...as for AA, if the 12 districts don't finally come together and accept/adopt changes to the transfer rule it is a moot point, Former Imhotep coach Alby is building a powerhouse in Neumann Goretti. Already has players from 3 states, transfers FROM Imhotep in his first year there...this will be the last year anyone has a shot at a 2A title unless the district reps come together and stop this issue state wideCrimson's Ghost wrote:Yeah, poor attempt at humor by me. I sure miss the days of people complaining about Berwick, So. Columbia, and Mt Carmel. At least they were easy to pronounce
