Re: THE RACE TO 16 WINS
One comment on the Penguins attendance. They do sell out every game. But, it is a slight deception. The Penguins put unsold tickets on as "Student Rush". Both my children have attended many games this way. You buy them online and present a Student ID at the will call window. The tickets are usually 15 dollars and are great seats, in all sections. Playoff tickets are a little more. I believe he said there were 400 SR tickets online for Friday's game. At 30 dollars each. Some home games this year had over 700 tickets available. Check the website if you doubt this.konjo78 wrote:I mean if you look at pittsburgh sports all around when teams arent top playoff contenders attendance goes way the hell down.
Pitt fball and basketball, pirate baseball for almost 20 years, pens before crosby, and even the few years steelers arent making playoffs heinz field ends up being half empty

And yet after the dust of this series has settled, the Bucs get swept by the Phils. Normalcy is returning to both cities.
It ain't over until it's over.
Re: THE RACE TO 16 WINS
At the end of the day, it is a great and innovative way to get the arena full every night. I would like to know what that average $15 student rush ticket spends at the game on parking, concessions, and apparel. Attendance issues are across the board in all sports, with the TV and streaming access of sports, all teams have a difficult time getting someone to devote 4-5 hours (with travel) and invest $50-$100 into something they can do for free with their 4K TV on their couch.

I did student rush a few times a few years back, it was still at the Mellon Arena at that point. Before you had to wait in line, first come first serve. One time we missed it by 4-5 people in front of us. Went and scalped and bought tickets for $30 anyway.

Still have your student I'd? I'm not sure if it has changed but, IUP ID cards didnt have an expiration date. I know 30 yr olds with 8 years of teaching under their belt, still doing student rush!!!Crimson's Ghost wrote:I did student rush a few times a few years back, it was still at the Mellon Arena at that point. 5 down, 11 to go.
Wow. Murray was great in crunch time.
Pens have been winning the 3rd period all season, and they did it again.

Re: THE RACE TO 16 WINS
Murray made some incredible saves (but would probably love to have that 1st goal back). The Pens looked awful in the 1st 2 periods, and Murray kept them in it. The 3rd period was Penguins hockey. If the team can pull of that win after the way they played in the first 2 periods, then hell yeah - #3elieve.
Re: THE RACE TO 16 WINS
If you missed it last night, Marc-Andre did the wave with fans....while the puck was in play. Love that guy.
If only closed minds came with closed mouths
Re: THE RACE TO 16 WINS
Wow, horrible call on the Horny goal. You could clearly see 1/4" of white, between the line, and the puck....I can't believe they said, "No goal."
Re: THE RACE TO 16 WINS
Changed the game completely.....hugely terrible call...
Oh well, no problem. A split in Washington was good. Get the next 2 in the Burgh.
