Would it be difficult for them to rotate it every year? Hershey one year Altoona the next.

I think they should rotate football and basketball around. The basketball games get terrible attendance in Hershey, but I think they would do a lot better if they were in Philly or Pittsburgh. I think if they moved the football around it would do better.

I remember watching the 1987 District 6 championship game between United and Bishop Guilfoyle at Cambria Heights.

And the 1986 District 6 championship game between United and Richland at Point Stadium

I remember that too. I can’t believe that venue was ever picked. That was never a nice place to watch a game.knowitall wrote:I remember watching the 1987 District 6 championship game between United and Bishop Guilfoyle at Cambria Heights.

Not much of a basketball fan but I can agree with the football. I remember mansion park being standing room only when the title games were there. Now they are like half empty. I know Hershey has more seating but the attendance lately wouldn't even fill mansion park.Crimson's Ghost wrote:I think they should rotate football and basketball around. People complain about the Philadelphia schools in Hershey for basketball in terms of attendance, meanwhile the Philadelphia Catholic League championship is played in front of a soldout 8,000 gym. People just go because it's good basketball, you'll get more of a walk-up crowd if the state title games are in bigger cities or rotated around.
I could see that with football too, have the state title games in the Pittsburgh area one year, there could be some really good crowds if a few WPIAL teams make it that far. Hershey just isn't an attraction in late December.

The basketball championships alternated for years. One year they would be at the Farm Show Arena and the next they would be played at the Civic Arena.
Re: Can Ligonier play with Richland?
I like them being opposite. Basketball in Philly and football in Pittsburgh then switch it the next year. Attendance would probably double if they did that.

As many of us seem to agree that Mansion Park is a great facility for District and State Playoffs, what are your thoughts on BG having a home game for the District championship game in years past? Should BG (#3) win this week and Northern Cambria (#1) win this week, the higher ranked team will have to go on the road to Mansion to play BG on their home field. In a situation like that, I think St. Francis would be a nice facility, close to be equal distance for both.
