Visiting is one thing, being given a sideline pass as a sophomore is another. Can you name any other athletes who had sideline passes at these caliber schools as a Sophimore for QB? You shouldn’t have to go East or WPIAL to find a comparative if he’s just averageSPORTSGURU814 wrote:Let’s keep it real if he was being recruited they would of pulled the trigger and offered visiting schools doesn’t mean being recruited now next point yes Richland won D6 hats off to them but what happened next round and yes the laurel highlands has been down besides the guilfoyle run who else ??? If you look on his Twitter. He shows vists to all of those schools for football. Just because he didn’t choose football doesn’t mean he wasn’t be recruited.

There are dozens of kids at every Pitt home game that have no chance of really being offered by Pitt. You do it to maintain relationships with local schools and what not, but it's not super rare for a kid to receive a game invite. You might invite 20-30 good sophomores throughout the season, and if one or two of them turn into good recruits then you have the relationship built early. But it's still worth something to be offered to those games, but it's not that uncommon.
Like the Clearfield kid probably was never in the running for a scholarship from PSU, but PSU probably has maintained some level of contact for a year or two in case they needed a walk-on QB, and that's how it happened for him.

I’m not saying it’s super rare, but it’s not common either. I think if he would have truly pushed football like he did baseball as far as camps, development, etc. that he would have gotten a decent offer.

Maybe your not familiar with how the recruiting process works every kid that comes gets a sideline pass before the game and after no recruit stays on field during the game so freshman sophomore junior or senior it’s the same and is the common practiceCCDevil2012 wrote:Visiting is one thing, being given a sideline pass as a sophomore is another. Re: Finish this statement
What it comes down to is $$$. If PSU, Pitt, Rutgers, UCLA, etc. were interested in him for football, it was by only offering him 1/2, maybe 3/4 scholarships, NOT full rides. Even Wake for baseball is NOT a full ride scholarship. But it's the BEST deal he got, it was for baseball his primary sport of choice, and he feels comfortable there.
It ain't over until it's over.

Division one FBS schools can't offer 1/2 scholarships. You are either one of the 85 full scholarships or you aren't.

Crimson is correct. It’s either all or nothing when it comes to D1 FBS football scholarships. No partials.

You play to win the game!!!
Re: Finish this statement
Obviously he didn't get the rest of my intent. -IF- he was WANTED by those mentioned FBS schools, he (maybe) would have gone with football to one of them. SINCE they didn't offer, HE chose what was in HIS best interests and signed to play BB with WF. I didn't think I had to explain that to CG, and he couldn't read what I didn't post previously.DragonsDoExist wrote:Crimson is correct.
