Watching two quality wrestlers like sal and jake is what wrestling is all about, to see the best of the best wrestle it out. what's the point of analyzing the match over and over and making judgements. we are just fortunate to have to chance to watch these wrestlers show off their outstanding talent. i'm sure each one of them will do well at states. i'll be cheering for both of them. go get 'em guys !

I like the analogy wrasslerfan. I agree with most of what you said. And although I didn't see the match, it just seems to me that Jake is more of a complete wrestler. I think he is a better all-around wrestler than both Sal and myself. That, however, doesn't mean that neither of us could beat Jake. It is definitely possible, but I would call it an upset just because of the analysis on each one of our wrestling abilities. I think often times you will find that a less complete wrestler beats an all-around wrestler (i.e. those who depend on the cementjob solely).

I don't want it to sound like I am selling Sal short (because I am definately not). He is a great wrestler and deserves the accolades he has received. However, my opinion is based on years of seeing these two wrestle each other and others. The match was a great one to see. It should be considered a "feat" of sorts to only lose 4-2 to Strayer, just like it is to beat Sal. Jake is a better all-around wrestler than Sal and I seriously think that, given the chance, Strayer would win 8 out of 10 matches. Maybe I shouldn't have said that (and it really doesn't matter what I think) but that's just how I feel. Had the match turned into more of a "neutral position dominated" type match Strayer probably would have won a little more convincingly. I personally think Sal is the stronger of the two and Jake is better conditioned. Sal would be more likely to pin Jake than the other way around.
