Megan Elder (Berlin) broke two records. One in the 1600 ( a 13 year old record) by 5 seconds, and also the 3200 record. She didn't run the 800 because her migrane was becoming too much. AMAZING! Being upset at herself for not doing better, still beating two records, and not even feeling up to par.....

The girl who won pole vault's name is Amanda Moschgat (windber)

Certainly all records are not equal. It always sounds good to say someone broke a record, but let's face it...D5 records in the distances are rather weak (with the exception of the boys 3200... a 9:15 is an outstanding time for any AA district). I'm not trying to downplay the accomplishments of Elder or Weaver. They've run faster than any other D5 girls ever have in their respective events and that is a credit to both of them.

Most of the D5 district records in the 800 on up, including the 4x800, would not even have been fast enough to place at states last year (or most any year for that matter). When a district record isn't even fast enough to place at states, I would call that a soft record.

One reason that D5 records are not that good in the distances is simply lack of competition in the district meet. There is no doubt that Elder and Weaver could have run much faster if pushed. It will be interesting to see how fast they can run at states with the competition.

And speaking of records, shouldn't D5 have changed the javelin records? A new javelin was introduced a few years back and the records should have started over. It's shame to have to erase the current records as they are both very good records. However, the records should be changed.

Breaking a record is great, and congratulations to all the runners...those who did, and those who did their best. You are all winners!!! I must say though, not many of the competitors/record breakers had as much class and has overcome as much adversity as Robin Weaver who won and broke the record in the 800m. Especially after the way her injured twin sister went down in the 3200m. What guts those two have. Those girls are tops in sportsmanship, academics and are just plain great kids! I can't wait to see them run at Juniata College next year!!!!!!

gunner- were you at districts?

It remains a mystery to me if Gunner was indeed there or not. Second in the district isn't bad, especially in a very good field that kept even the Bisons from 120 points. So I can live with getting second by less than 20 points, by 113-96. Congratulations to all the athletes that are going to states, and to the Bedford boys and Berlin girls on winning the district title. It was an especially gutsy performance by the Bedford boys to overcome the injuries of two of their top dawgs, John Marshall and Troy Harris. Good job. Now, I wouldn't mind Bedford if it weren't for their big mouths, lol.
