3rd Debate
Re: 3rd Debate
Good post LP about Kerry who can't give a straight answer. "My view is my view is my view etc." Boy, would he be a good used car salesman or an Amway rep. Kind of reminds me of the "snake oil salesman from the 'Outlaw Josey Wales'.
Kerry will pass the buck on SS, it'll go broke if we don't do someting drastic. Weapons ban won't get through Congress. To keep from outsourcing jobs he'll raise tariffs and that never works. He basically has nothing original just the same old liberal policies.
Yeah - raising tariffs is a fine line to walk. Sometimes it's necessary, but usually when that happens, the most effected countries hit us with their own tariffs on our exports.
Getting a straight answer from Kerry or a strong position of his is like trying to fit a square peg into a round hole.

I'm new at this, but what I was trying to say is that Kerry would reinstate the Pay as you Go. I just think that Kerry can turn this country around faster than what Bush can. One thing I hate about Kerry is that he is pro choice, but beggers can't be choosers.

Re: 3rd Debate
Pay as you go? Kerry will do nothing but raise taxes and expand gov't more than LBJ's "Great Society". His health care plan alone will cost over $2,000,000,000,000. Ya, that's 2 trillion baby. I had to count all the zero's several times. Add up all of his promises and the bill is staggering and will be paid by raising taxes on everybody. Probably some form of a nat'l sales tax like that GST tax in Canada to pay for it.
The budget surplus projected by Congress was all paper based on a strong stock market that collapsed after 9/11. When analysts said that the tech stocks Price to Earnings Ratio's didn't matter anymore. Guess what they did and the tech bubble burst leaving millions of 401K's ravaged. If you blame Bush for that then blame Clinton, Congress, and the Stock Brokers!

Please educate yourself on this. I don't want to sound rude about it, but you really should stop listening to all the rhetoric and really look into this. If you think Kerry can do it better, please explain why. He keeps saying he has a plan, but other than raising everyone's taxes, he hasn't done a good job of outlining that plan.

Re: 3rd Debate
Ok I did hear about that budget surplus, and that should be blamed on Bush at all. It wasn't his fault. So what do you all think about Kerry being Pro/Choice?

Re: 3rd Debate
Sportsguy - just go back and read some more of the posts in the 2004 Presidential Debate thread. Each of us has made our arguements. My position on this issue is far right, but I personally believe that abortion is murder, and with that position, how could I be anything but far right on that issue.
Please don't take this the wrong way, but this is an example of what I mean by doing the research yourself. Too many people have their views shaped by someone else making a statement that may be true, but may not be true. I can give you countless examples of people saying their voting one way or another, and can't give a single reason why. Or, they hear something from someone else, and it becomes gospel to them. That's why I asked you to name some of those better ideas Kerry has that you mentioned in an earlier post.
We all have our personal beliefs. Now your job is to go out there and research each candidate's positions on the issues that matter the most to you to make your decision. Look into it deeper. As much respect as I have for Southpaw and we agree pretty much on everything on here, you're taking his word for it on what he told you with the surplus. He is correct, but you need to get out there and check it out for yourself. This is called making an educated vote.
As you do your research, don't limit yourself to just one or two websites or news channels. If you watch CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC or read the New York Times, these news channels typically fall to the left. FoxNews leans to the right.
I have a feeling (because of your stand on abortion), that you fall more on to President Bush's side of things. There are a lot of posts on here from a lot of different people with a lot of different views. Spend the time to go back through and read them, and as much from news sources as you can. Listen to talk radio. Personally, I like to listen to Sean Hannity on 1040 AM from 3pm to 6pm or watch Hannity and Colmes on FoxNews at 9:00 pm. Hannity is a conservative like myself, and kicks liberal butt every time he's on the air  .

Re: 3rd Debate
Ok when you tape each debate and watch them 2 or 3 times then we can start talking. Go Kerry!

Aren't we full of ourselves, LP? You sound more than a little patronizing -- but that's probably my liberal touchiness. Maybe someone else will agree with me.
Yeah, Hannity kicks liberal butt each night because of that wimpy nosebleed he partners with -- not the guy any sensible liberal wants as a representative.

Sportsguy. What would anybody possibly get out of watching the debates again?
All I see from Kerry is a guy who is full of himself. He claims things would be different now if he would have been Commander in Chief. On that front I agree. I dont see how things would be any better. But different certainly. How anyone can say that a different set of decisions would have created a better end result is absolutely ill advised.
Bush may not be the greatest guy for the job. But he is consistent and predictable. And the bad guys are scared of him. To me that is what we need right now.
