whoo- hold on to your horses.we were discussing teams and not individuals.keep this discussion on the correct venue. of course d-6 had more placewinners at states d-5 will never have more placewinners at states because d-6 has many more schools and sends more wrestlers to regionals.dragonfanz i thought we were discussing teams and not individuals. "4-him" why do they have 4 classifications in football and basketball for states and only 2 for wrestling. i know it's because not as many schools have wrestling programs but what's good for the goose should be good for the gander. if the piaa feels it would be unfair for a school like berlin that graduates 50 to play a school like johnstown[e.g.] in football then why is it fair for them to be in the same classification in wrestling? now dragonfanz heres something for you to chew on. if you took the number of place winners from d-5 and compared it to over all enrollment of the schools in d-5 and did the same for d-6' you might be surprised to find out d-5 has a higher percentage of winners. thats math baby and math she don't lie i'll leave you with this prediction n.s. beats the hills if they wrestle this year

What are you talking about with the classification stuff? No one ever said anything about the AA/AAA stuff. If D5 was combined with D6 (or something on the contrary), Berlin still wouldn't compete against Johnstown...in football or wrestling. Combining the districts would have no bearing on the size classifications.

Unfortunately, the chances of us wrestling each other this year are slim. If neither of us make the trip to Hershey as a team, the match will be wrestled. Otherwise, we will not (unless it is moved to a later date). Personally, I think that we should try to get together and wrestle as it is usually a great match with standing room only. This has developed into a District 5-6 clash over the past 5 years. I would love to wrestle North Star this year. Anyways, let's not get too far off the topic here. I would like to here a "neutral" person's opinion on this matter.

tom, i thought you would see the analogy i am trying to make.remember we are talking about TEAMS. yes, a school like berlin could meet a scool like johnstown or even tyrone in the state duel meet tournament. all i said was that if the piaa thinks that would be an unfair advantage in football [ a school playing a school 4 times it's size] [thats why they have 4 classifications] .why isn't the same logic used for wrestling? at one time there was only 1 classification in the state and the piaa thought it was unfair for smaller schools to be competing against larger schools in the individual tournament at hersey so they went to 2 classifications. i am not saying we should have more than 2 classifications for the individual tournament, only for the state duel meet tournament.

and that's why there have been discussions about three classifications in wrestling....personally, I'd like to go back to one...but I'm old and nostalgic....then there wouldn't be any carping about who was the best...it would be settled...

I'm not sure where this all came in to the discussion. I am still confused. We must be talking about two totally different things. But since we have got to the classification issue somehow...

I would like to see one classification for the individual tourney, because I get sick of AAA people saying how terrible AA wrestlers are. And I would agree that 3 classifications for wrestling wouldn't be a bad idea.

dragonfanz must still be chewing on the fact i gave him.this started with him saying that d-5 teams are not competitive with d-6 teams.all i said was that over the last several years n.s. has been very competitive with d-6 teams. the operative word is TEAM not individuals. i would like to see three classifications too. that would level the playing field for the real small schools.by the way' here's a little tidbit that might interest bedford county people- windber kids will now be allowed to wrestle for shade next year.it might take several years for them to contribute but windber has many good atheletes who could develop into good wrestlers. it is only going to make shade stronger.there is also a rumor that con. twp. might drop it's program because they have so few wrestlers in the jr. high program. they would then join with n.s. but again that's only a rumor

I see where you were coming from now...saying that most D5 schools are small schools and D6 schools are much larger.

It is good to see that Windber and Shade link up. Hopefully we will see Shade's team become competitive in the next decade.

What a shame it would be to see a historic program like CT gone! As a wrestling community, we need to do what we can to keep this program around.

I'd think North Star and Conemaugh Township combining would force them to AAA wrestling. So, I don't see that happening.
