Carnell Andrews commits to Bucknell
Re: Carnell Andrews commits to Bucknell
I recall a couple of years ago seeing a post on the internet of the 3 stud Westmont/McCort wrestlers, in the Westmont wrestling room, posing in McCort Wrestling T-Shirts... It didn't stay up too long..

Anthony Walters of Bishop McCort committed to Drexel tonight.
Re: Carnell Andrews commits to Bucknell
Congrats to him. A fine young man, wish him well in future endeavours. Looks like he will be a teammate w/ Desantos, who beat Spencer Lee this past March.
It ain't over until it's over.

How is the Drexel wrestling team?
Re: Carnell Andrews commits to Bucknell
You are on a wrestling page. Did you really think you needed to explain that DeSanto beat Lee? My god, I think some of you just like to hear yourselves talk.Manfred wrote:Congrats to him. I made an observation based on the local newspaper article, which EVERYONE on this website doesn't read. You made an **** of yourself by choosing to single out me. Congrats. I dislike everything about BMCHS and its ongoing ability to draw from beyond geographical boundaries, so when -I- choose to congratulate an individual athlete from there, I'm either in a really good mood or the kid is really desrving. In this case both. Thanks for the mudslinging.

I didn't know where the kid that beat Lee ended up. Thanks Manfred.

No offense to anyone, but since NCAA Div I schools can only give out 9.9 wrestling scholarships per team per year, and Div II schools can only give out 9, do these student athletes get any athletic money toward their tuition, books, etc?

Usually nobody gets a "full scholarship" in sports that have partial scholarships like wrestling and baseball. If there's 20 kids on a wrestling team, they divide the 9.9 out as best they can. I think only football and basketball offer full rides for the entire team usually.
So a kid may get a 50% scholarship to wrestle, so half of his entire costs are paid for.
So I guess that counts as athletic money.
I think schools also use that as a recruiting tool, so if Penn State and Ohio State are recruiting the same kid, one school might be able to offer 50%, and the other could come in and say they can offer 70%. Coaches have to be pretty careful in how they use their spots.
