WEEK 3 Legion

Post by Manfred »

Stoystown takes game 1 from St. Michael 7-3. Nash Walker went 7. A couple miscues in the infield led to the early hook for Shope. Not many hits again. Game 2- Saints turn it around, 12-2 5 inn. mercy. Brady Wright did his usual good job, the bats finally came to life. Two fairly equal teams probably going to fight it out for the middle of the pack. BTW- Stoystown is another of those multi-district teams. St. Michael @ Lilly Tues., weather permitting.

I do not follow legion, so what is the beef with multi district teams? Say if they didn't allow them, wouldn't the league be much worse? Less teams, less talent ect? So do dislike them because it is unfair, or do you like to point out that St. Michael is just FH kids and it can be used as an excuse when they lose? Legitimate questions.

You sir are an idiot. My beef is that a few of the Legion teams are handcuffed because they can't draw from a multi-school area. Most of the rest do. Plain and simple. If there were no Richland or Portage franchises, then likely St. Michael would be able to draw from a multi school area too. Then it would be fair, wouldn't it. You are a Bishop McCort Catholic High School grad, so of course, you can't see anything wrong with a school that pulls from an unlimited area for their rosters. Handicap your teams with the same rules as the publics and see how you do. Equality and parity and a level field is all I'm after.

Tuesday saw St. Michael @ Lilly called after 4 due to rain. I guess it will be resumed at a later date. St. M. was up 3-2. Last eve saw the Saints lose at home to Bedford, 7-6. Not the dominating team Bedford usually has, but still good. Sub-mariner Painter looked decent, ran into trouble in the 4th. Saints had too many errors attributable to inexperience. Ebensburg @ St.M. tonight. I'll be at the Lantzy.

Claysburg beat Bedford tonight 5-2, giving Bedford their first loss of the season I believe. Neither team had a ton of hits in the game, well pitched by both teams.

The local rag will likely post it after the playoffs have started, typical. As far as I know, the top dogs are Somerset with ( I think) no losses, Bedford with 1 loss, Claysburg with 1 ? loss. Next level teams would be Richland, Ebensburg, ?? Don't know much about Stoystown & Meyersdale. Not sure how many make playoffs. Then again, unless you're a Legion member, who gives a crap about this caliber of ball, right? After all, I seem to be the only one posting anything much about it.

Here it is. Claysburg 9-1. Bedford 7-1. Lilly 3-3. Portage 0-7. Ebensburg 4-4. St. M. 3-6. Stoystown 2-4. Richland 2-6. Thats all that played. I had to remove this sports issue from the special glass case I have for displaying "special" unique life-changing events recorded in the newspaper. Things like 9-11. The 1977 Flood. The Challenger space shuttle disaster. JFK assassination. And my latest, the BMCHS state baseball championship. :-* :-* :-*
